@mtnagel Seems like you have to pay at least $99 to get a $110 voucher so it’s more like $49 for $110, which is a decent deal but nothing like what’s implied.

RE: (Expired) Woot T Shirts 4 for $25 FS (Must buy $19 Shirts & Use Amazon)
@marvomatic It’s been a month so I’m late to the party. Looks like the price is now $41 for 4, still a decent deal but not super hot like before.

FYI I have my stamps stated as ‘delivered’ 3 weeks ago but I never got them. Reached out to the seller and will report back.

I bit. I’ll let everyone know how they look when I get them.

RE: AMEX OFFERS (ymmv): $49 statement credit when you charge $98 to join Walmart+ to 12/31 (hopefully stacking offers around to get it free again)
I had it. Tempting. I already pay for Amazon Prime but if Walmart has more day-to-day items that could be worth $50. Thanks MC.

RE: Publix Digital Coupons: Free 5-Pack of Yakult Nonfat Probiotic Drinks - exp 10/31
@ctgolfer I don’t know if it’s an adblock thing, but I just saw it. Maybe it’s zip code dependent? YMMV regardless.

RE: 2064: Read Only Memories (reg $19.99) - FREE @ Epic Games - exp 09/29
I have about 100 free games from Epic at this point. Naturally that didn’t stop me from picking this up as well.

RE: New Offer PRIME ONLY - $10 Amazon Promotional Credit w/ Purchase of a $40 Amazon Gift Card exp 6/22
@c3 I got the Amex confirmation email a few hours after I bought an Amazon gift card. Here’s hoping you get yours soon.

RE: New Offer PRIME ONLY - $10 Amazon Promotional Credit w/ Purchase of a $40 Amazon Gift Card exp 6/22
@c3 I had it on 2 out of my 3 Amex cards. Warning though - it only lets you add it to one, then nixes it on all the others.

RE: The escalating price of empty used ink cartridges on eBay (to recycle at Staples for Rewards $)!
To answer your question directly: eBay is where I bought garbage bags worth of cartridges back in the old, old days with lower (or no) purchase requirements, but I also know that small and mid-sized business often still have ink vs. laser printers. You may want to hit one or two up that are near where you work/commute/live to see if there’s a win-win opportunity there. Assuming, as they say, that the juice is worth the squeeze.
-
RE: The escalating price of empty used ink cartridges on eBay (to recycle at Staples for Rewards $)!
@ukedog Do you have to buy other ink cartridges to get the credits? I thought they changed the rules and now you’re required to specifically buy $x in ink every so many days.

RE: FREE Amazon Music Unlimited 4-Month Subscription for New Users ( 3-Months for Non-Prime Members) - exp unk
I switched from Pandora after many years to Amazon Unlimited. AU is more expensive but the quality is better and I have a lot fewer repeats.
4 months free is great regardless

Been wanting to try this but was too cheap to pay Steam prices. Thanks OP.

I bought the Miracle Gro on sale for half priced ($12 or so) and it took the $10 off that making it $2.50 so thanks OP

@mistercheap “Promo Code Invalid”. Might be a regional deal.

RE: Official REDBOX Video Rental Codes Master Thread
@harperr I will admit that COVID got me out of the habit. I’ve switched over to streaming now - it has to have been a year or more since I’ve picked up a Redbox rental, which is weird given how much I used it previously.
I wonder if this is widespread and if so what other services are permanently affected by a habitual change in what we buy. Groceries certainly.

RE: AARP Membership Memorial Day Sale - 5 Years for $45
@harperr Thanks. Is there a link where I can see what is offered this month? And can you buy multiples? It may be worth the membership just for this benefit if so.

RE: AARP Membership Memorial Day Sale - 5 Years for $45
Great deal, but can anyone tell me how they’ve used it to save money? I used to get free coffee from Dunkin’ but they killed that a couple years ago so now I can’t think of anything I’d use it for honestly.

Weird but interesting game. Definitely worth the price of free.

RE: Anybody Familiar With Toyota Income Driver Notes? 1.50% APY
@benlola Just FYI, the yield is only part of the return. The long-term return annualizes out to about 2.8% as per Vanguard. Of course, it’s variable and so the additional risk factor is the potential loss of premium. Conversely, unlike Toyota you would not lose 100% in any event and I think the lowest drop ever was something like 2%.
Bond investing in a very low interest rate environment is incredibly challenging.
-
RE: Anybody Familiar With Toyota Income Driver Notes? 1.50% APY
@benlola It’s definitely low. It’s also definitely a low rate.
You could invest in Vanguard Short-Term Bonds (BSV) and get around 3% on average with full diversification.
Perhaps this is a good deal for a very narrow slice of investors: 1) Wants a fixed-rate return, 2) Willing to take a very low interest rate in exchange for 3) Relatively low risk where 4) They are willing to invest in a single company to do so.
I don’t know the liquidity limits, but if there are some that’s something else to give pause. BSV (and similar investments) can be liquidated immediately.
-
RE: Anybody Familiar With Toyota Income Driver Notes? 1.50% APY
Seems like a lot of risk for low return. I’m still getting 0.5-0.6% on FDIC-backed checking, so an extra point for the default risk seems like a poor deal. But in a low interest rate environment who knows.

RE: KOHLS: Apparent end of 30% off 'Generic' Codes for Kohls cardholders (see post)
It’s a puzzling strategy honestly.
The current arrangement allows pre-sensitive shoppers (us) to get the best deal with a sale Kohl’s wouldn’t otherwise get vs most (unsavvy) shoppers getting occasional deals.
I only buy when I can stack but as a retail exec I’m highly confident I’m still a profitable Kohl’s shopper when I do convert. Unlike now, when I’m unlikely to shop there at all.
If I had to guess, I’d say this will be unwound well before Christmas.

I’m leaving this up to reiterate that free religious items are not permitted on the site. They just tend to spam it up.
Please refrain from doing so in the future. I’ve deleted your other free religious posts. Thanks for trying to contribute but them’s the rules.

RE: 2 FREE Bags Of Amora Coffee - $1 Shipping
@penguin110 Upvoted you but I did do this before and if you cancel right away - as in right after your coffee ships - they’re good about not charging you. You can also use a virtual credit card to ensure you don’t get an unpleasant charge.

Can confirm. My new miles expiration date is now June 7, 2021. That’s the primary benefit of this IMO. Thanks OP.

RE: Are Roth IRAs really that good?
Roth IRA are overvalued… if you make a lot of money.
A general rule of thumb is to look at what your tax rate is today vs. what you expect it to be in retirement. If your rate in retirement is expected to be higher, put your money in a Roth. If your tax rate today is higher, take the traditional IRA deduction.
Made complex by absolute uncertainty around future tax rates, but my kids all put their retirement monies in Roth since they have an effective 0% federal tax rate. By contrast, if you are in the 31%+ federal tax bracket, you may want to put your money in a traditional IRA. Or maybe not - perhaps you’ll be even more flush in retirement.

RE: Amazon Prime Video: Watch 8 Hours of Select Prime Videos, Get a Free $5 Video Credit + $5 CheezIts Credit Must Enroll each month
Also, I don’t believe credits can be stacked. At least not the way I would define stacked. You can get $5 off per item you buy, but you can’t use all of your $15 credits on one order to get free Cheez-Its.
Also, there are some Cheez-Its that don’t qualify. I tried to get a single box for $5 and didn’t get the credit so YMMV on how useful the credits you have are.

RE: Question about banking
@mistercheap I also don’t understand.
@zerenia What bait-and-switch offers have you seen?
-
RE: Question about banking
@mistercheap In fairness I had to harangue Ally Bank to cough up the $$$ they owed me for a promotion, but otherwise their customer service has been sterling. Much better than B&M banks, honestly.
But just like there are certain advantages to retail B&M stores, there are advantages to bank ones. And as you point out, I am not aware of any online bait-and-switch interest rates. I’m sure they are somewhere but my experience has been non-existent.
To be clear: You can probably get 1/2% to maybe 3/4% more from an online bank at this point in time vs. a local savings/MM bank rate. As with all things financial, YMMV.
-
RE: Question about banking
@zerenia Ironically, I see it just the opposite. Ally Bank kept their interest rates high for quite some time, and even now 0.60% is higher than Vanguard pays on their Prime Money Market. They aren’t the only ones - there are several online banks that pay ‘high’ interest rates and I’m not overly concerned about their failure.
By contrast, you may only need a teller once or twice a year, but if you don’t have a relationship with a local bank and need one to, say, cut you a cashier’s check so you can buy a car, then you are out of luck without a significant delay to set up a new account on the spot.
Again, his and YMMV but I find a few bucks a month a good insurance policy for something I may never need but would find worthwhile.
Above and beyond? Sure. Slam $5K or $10K or $50K into an online HYSA and pull in an extra few hundred a year pre-tax.
