Walmart+ members will get unlimited free goods & grocery delivery, discounts of as much as 5 cents a gallon for fuel and access to a Scan & Go app that allows shoppers to skip the checkout line. But they will still have to meet a $35 minimum for each online order to avoid fees, whether it’s shipped to the home or dropped off at their door. It will cost $98 a year, or $12.95 a month.

Amazon Prime costs $119 a year, or $12.99 a month, and includes free two-day shipping and some same-day shipping, without a minimum. Grocery delivery through Amazon Fresh is free, if customers meet a $35 minimum and are in eligible areas. It also includes its ad-free music service and video streaming service, with a large library of TV shows and movies — including award-winning originals like “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” Customers can also get some discounts at Whole Foods, too.

  • Walmart says it will be adding new perks to Walmart+ in the coming months, but its initial offering may fail to attract a significant amount of customers. “For a $35 minimum and $98 annual fee, this is a thin gruel,” Craig Johnson, president of retail consulting firm Customer Growth Partners, told The New York Times.

Agree, the one exception is if you are going to order groceries every week from them if you have a larger family. The free delivery of groceries (same day in some cases) is likely worth the $98 fee if you use it often. Much cheaper than using Instacart or other delivery services year round. Their grocery prices are quite competitive, so you’re not overpaying for what you buy.

    BUMMER
    I tried the free trial:

Walmart offers free delivery on any item ordered no matter
how low the price for $9?.00 per year or $12.?? per month.
Kinda like Amazon? Whoa, WM’s offer only includes items
that could be picked up ONLY at the store you choose as
"your store". Before, items could come from any WM store
or even third-party sellers and if the total order was at
least $35, then delivery was free even if the delivery had
to come in separate orders. . But in WM+ mode,
you’re not even offered things that "your store"
doesn’t carry or ANY third party items.

NO FREE PICKUP AND RETURN LIKE AMAZON
AFAIK, returns can only be made by you physically returning them to a store.

My best friend gets a small amount of Food Stamps, EBT. He registered his EBT on Amazon
and got a cut rate on Prime Membership, $5.99 plus tax taken from his normal payment method.
*BUT, he can also use his EBT to purchase food on Amazon. AFAIK, Amazon is the only
one to allow online purchases with Food Stamps.
