Haven’t seen the T&C of the promo credit use, but if like past ones, don’t think it can.

To answer your question, no, you cannot order a third party gift card. In the terms it says it has to be Amazon Mini Prime Envelope Tin or Prime Day eGift Card, Offer ends 11:59 pm PT, June 20, 2021, or while supplies last,
However once you get your $40 Amazon gift card you CAN buy a third party gift card and use your Amazon gift card to pay for it. I do it all the time.
On a side note, I saw that Amazon is now allowing you to use your banked amazon gift card credit towards Prime membership, on either monthly or annual plans. Good news for those of us who are in the Amazon ecosystem and have large amounts of banked credit sitting in out account.
I got the Prime Envelope Tin with a $40 gift card and it should arrive tomorrow. They say the $10 promotional gift card takes two days to get on your account and is only valid for items sold and shipped by Amazon.
It’s funny. I clipped the coupon and put a gift card in my cart, but to make sure I tried to enter the code manually and instead of saying the promo code was already entered, it gave me an error that said the code could not be applied to my order, so I called customer service and told them the problem. She had me delete the gift card and put it in my cart again and manually enter the promo code and it still said that the promo code could not be applied to the order. She told me to place the order without the promo code and on her side she could enter the promo code after the order was placed and she was able to successfully enter the promo code that way.
My son’s birthday is coming up soon and he wanted Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I placed orders for several yesterday. The books are about $10 each, so this will allow me to order him one additional book free. Thanks, MC.

I just ordered it. I used the Amazon code:
I used the promo code GIFTFORPD21 and it gave me a $10 credit.
I have the Amazon card. I have it for two weeks, and I received a $100 credit for having it. So far I have $80 left. I used the Amazon card, and it billed me $40, so I guess the Amazon credit of $80 is not used.
Does anyone know which products are sold through Amazon, and not through a third party?I get back 5% using my Amazon Credit card. I hope the $40 gift card will allow me to get back $2 for using my credit card!

search on any given item you are looking to buy, then along the left hand column, choose ‘sold by Amazon’ to narrow the results to Amazon only sold items the code will work on.
I don’t think you can buy AMAZON GC’s with Amazon Store Credit as you outlined.
-
That’s right you can’t use Amazon gift cards to buy Amazon gift cards, but you can use Amazon gift cards to buy third party gift cards sold and shipped by Amazon. I buy Safeway/Albertsons gift cards paying with Amazon gift cards on a fairly tegular basis. I just wish Amazon sold Kroger gift cards.

Is this already dead? Just tried to order and got the “The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase” error. Yes, I’m a Prime member.

Same here.

The promo code may be already applied and then you would get an error message. Checking out in a desktop browser will show whether the coupon is actually applied, if you aren’t doing that now.

Oddly, I just tried again (didn’t do anything differently) and it worked.

Maybe you should try calling Amazon, if the promo code does not work. I know its a lot of bother, which may be not worth it. Amen, we are not in the old days, when you had to call long distance, and you would be charged! LOL

My last contact with Amazon was a complete joke. A package was supposed to be delivered by Amazon itself, to an Amazon locker, but they could not tell me where the package was. When the package finally showed up in the system, it was flagged as undeliverable and returned to Amazon.

I bought the Miracle Gro on sale for half priced ($12 or so) and it took the $10 off that making it $2.50 so thanks OP
