I’m new to mypoints, I see reward redemptions require a lot more ‘my points’ than ‘swagbucks’. Ie, $25 visa is like 3750 points vs 2500 on Swag, so is there a benefit to belonging to both?
How does 18700 compare doing the same offer at Swag for 11000?
-
@mistercheap DOC’s superfans use both. They value 18700 MP at $120.

I’ve had MP for years. I click on the e-mails for free points but don’t do their offers. Their offers are like ibotta’s but must be activated prior to purchase vs ibotta you can activate after purchase. They have more “essentials” (tomatoes, bread, etc.) offers but they aren’t worth much.
-
@my4mainecoons Their financial offers are more rewarding than their veggie offers.
-
@sonofzeus I think I used them as a portal once. I just checked. I have 18K points. How much is that worth?
-
@my4mainecoons Click “redeem” and sort by “what I can afford”. You have many ways to mix/match. Some are “discounted”. Some are “instant fulfillment.”

Too much work. 😋

@my4mainecoons Cashout to PayPal for about $115.

Do they offer the discounted Visa/MC cards 1x a month like Swagbucks does?
I did this deal last night, showing pending, already have Discover card so it was super easy, they already had my linked checking account. Nice deal, thank you @sonofzeus .
-
@mistercheap Glad it worked for you. MP does discount the Visa like SB.
-
I did it last night and mine isn’t pending yet. I swear mine never track automatically but I always get paid out.

@mtnagel If you had ad-blockers turned on, tracking portal to vendor to purchase gets foggy.

I turn it off for sites like MyPoints.

@mtnagel Maybe a well constructed prompt sent to the right AI can solve your performance problem with portal games.

For those that don’t know, both MyPoints and Swagbucks are sister companies owned by Prodege. (InBox Dollars is the other sibling.) I’ve been using both MP and SB for years. Both tend to offer similar and often the same offers, but the rates can vary. One needs to compare to get the best value on offers like this. Sometimes SB is higher, sometimes MP is. SB redemption is straightforward, 1 SB = 1¢. However, there are discounted redemption options. For example, once per month you can redeem for certain $25 cards once a month at 12-13% off face value. For MyPoints, redemptions vary somewhat depending on what type of gift card you get. I typically get prepaid MasterCards, which are redeemed at 1,500 MP per $10 of value. So for this particular offer, 18,700 MP would be worth $124.67 to me. MyPoints does not offer a monthly discounted card redemption like SB does.

@yoregano They offer “on sale” rewards on my screen and a handful of instant rewards on MY screen. Maybe the algorithm varies based on users’ interactions with the site.

I guess you’d need to clarify what you mean. I’ve been using MyPoints a loonng time, one of my first rewards sites, one that is actually still in business (though they were not originally under the Prodege umbrella). Next year will be 25 years for me! Things have changed over the years. Anyway, when it comes to redemptions, I’m not sure what you mean by “instant” rewards. Otherwise, yes, they do claim to have certain rewards “on sale,” but essentially, those are always at the same redemption rate. For example, the prepaid MCs I mentioned previously say “sale” in the description but have been at the cost of 1,500 MP per $10 of card value for years. If something is always the same price, it’s not really on sale… Now, not all GCs are redeemable at the same rate. For example, a $10 Walmart card costs 1,590 MP. Thus one of the reasons I redeem for MCs, it’s better value. I use them to pay most of my utility bills.
