My cart is loaded and ready to go!

I did this in the last 2 years. Target being one of my weekly stops I’ll load up on it. Note that while one transaction online, there’s no limit to how many time one stop in the store.

This year might only be available on-line:

    (Mail, Email or Mobile Delivery)

If it’s available in-store, then indeed it should be repeatable.

@thediggler Huh, you might be right. If so that would be a bummer.

  • Is it possible to use the Target 10% gift card to purchase an online T-Mobile refill card?

update: I found this so I guess not:
“Target GiftCards are solely for use at Target stores and on Target.com. Target GiftCards cannot be used to purchase any prepaid or specialty gift cards.”

  • @noahbody said in Target.com: 10% Off Target Gift Cards *Sunday 12/2 Only*:

Is it possible to use the Target 10% gift card to purchase an online T-Mobile refill card?

Good question! Can you use the gift card purchased at a discount to purchase other gift cards, like Visa or Amex?

  • Target GiftCards can’t be used to purchase the following:

    In store or from Target.com:

    • American Express gift cards or prepaid cards
    • Visa gift cards or prepaid cards
    • MasterCard gift cards or prepaid cards
    • Specialty gift cards, including gift cards for gaming, music and restaurants, such as Xbox and Olive Garden

    From Target.com:

    • Target GiftCards

It’s unclear as to whether one may purchase a Target GiftCard with another Target GiftCard when in-store… 😕

However, you may purchase specialty gift cards using a Target REDCard and save 5% at checkout… e.g., $100 eBay GC for $95…

I was able to buy Phone Card with Target GC for the last few years. I don’t think they consider phone refill as gift card. AFAIK.

  • I was not able to use target promotional gift cards to buy phone cards.

  • Sign welcoming me tonight on my grocery run: 😁😁😁

By “promotional gift cards” do you mean the free $5 or $10 GC’s that one gets with a qualifying purchase, @littlebro?

I wonder if those might register in Target’s checkout system differently than the purchased GC’s…sort of like Kohl’s Cash (coupon) vs. a Kohl’s GC (form of converted cash payment)…

I purchased groceries tonight using both a $10 promo GC (received last week from a grocery purchase of $50) and a $100 Target e-GC (from last year’s 10% off sale), and the former took an extra step for verification, while the e-GC slid right through…

  • @kohlspowrshopper Exactly. Those $10/$5 gift cards from TP sales.

  • 500 Club

That interesting, I never see they do anything different with regular GC vs promo GC. Also, I have been using the Target App on my phone which I store my GC so there’s only one scan for payment and discount.

THIS OFFER IS VALID BOTH ONLINE AND IN STORE.

** OFFICIAL TERMS OFTarget GiftCard Offer

Offer restrictions: Target GiftCards purchased during 10% off offer may be redeemed beginning Monday, December 3rd at 10am Central. Offer valid for up to $300 in Target GiftCard purchases ($30 maximum discount) per household. Minimum GiftCard purchase is $10. Limit one transaction up to $300 in Target GiftCards on Target.com. Offer does not include Target Visa Gift Cards, Target MasterCard Gift Cards, Target American Express Gift Cards and gift cards issued by other retailers such as dining, lifestyle and entertaining gift cards. Offer excludes reloads of previously purchased Target GiftCards, Target GiftCards given in exchange for electronic or prepaid trade-ins, Target GiftCards provided for merchandise returns, Merchandise Return Cards and Target GiftCards provided as free promotional card with qualifying purchase. Quantities limited; no rainchecks. Purchases of Target GiftCards that exceed certain transaction limits may be voided. Terms and conditions apply to gift cards.

WARNING: However, it is recommended not to abuse the promotion as their have been reports the last couple years of Target deactivating gift cards.

[Update 12/6/17: Sporadic deactivations are now happening for ultra heavy hitters. I think they are basing it off the card used, so if you varied cards for each purchase you’re probably safe.]

Quick heads up: word on the street is that Target plans to deactivate some gift cards which were purchased by abusing the 10%-off deal from Sunday and refund the payment method used for purchase.

A similar thing happened last year where Target drained some gift cards for people who ‘rolled’ Target gift cards and DID NOT REFUND THE ORIGINAL GIFT CARD. We don’t know yet whether this time the deactivations will occur only on ‘rolled’ purchases; my gut tells me it’ll be a bit more broad this time. Even then, it’ll probably only affect those who did multiple online purchases from a single billing address or perhaps those who did more than $300-worth on a single credit card.

We’ll see…In the meantime, keep an eye out on your gift cards to make sure the balances are there. If they aren’t, double check that the refund posted properly to your credit card.

    And this from 2016:

    So this is next-level stuff.

Many, many Slickdeals members (start on page 61) are now noticing that their Target gift cards purchased during the recent 10%-off promo are showing a $0 balance.

My understanding is that this issue is only affecting those who did as follows:

    1. Bought a Target e-gift online utilizing the recent promo, AND

    2. Paid with an existing Target gift card (to accomplish this, they had to apparently add a filler item, else the system wouldn’t accept the order)

  • So if you’re already a red card holder this is really only an extra 5% discount correct? I don’t think you can get 5% off your total purchase (say for a purchase next week), then use the GC you bought today for an extra 10% savings. When you pay with GC the additional 5% Red Card savings goes away right?

    Correct.

  • Glad that I had my cart pre-loaded…the selection of available e-cards has significantly dwindled (don’t quite understand that one) …missed out on the Santa with cookies card… 🎅🏻 🍪

I have not had any issues buying T-mobile refill cards in-store with the giftcards. It’s pretty much the only reason I get the giftcards each year.

According to Doctor of Credit website:
(Hopefully no one lost money. I tried to warn you guys with an earlier post.)

    https://www.doctorofcredit.com/target-deactivating-some-gift-cards-bought-on-10-sale/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+DoctorOfCredit+(Doctor+Of+Credit)

    Déjà vu.

Target is again deactivating some gift cards purchased on Sunday’s 10% off sale. Similar things happened in 2017 and 2016.

In the past, it was only when multiple cards were purchased with the same credit card that they deactivated them, I assume this time is the same. Not sure if they track across stores or only when the same card was used at the same store more multiple times. If you ordered more than one $300 gift card online, it’s possible they’ll deactivate those duplicates as well.

All cards got activated at 10 am this morning, and some got subsequently deactivated. I don’t think everyone who bought more than one $300 gift card on the same credit card is getting deactivated, probably only the heavy hitters.

Last time they deactivated when people used a Target gift card to buy another Target gift card, and then didn’t refund the original gift card. They just stole the money and ran.
