PSA: Staples accepting recycle ink carts in store again (YMMV)
-
The blurb about inks not being accepted in store has been removed from their website. You might want to check w/your local store prior to going there since some areas may have local COVID-19 restrictions which prevent it.
-
Thanks for the info. So has anyone received credit for mailed in carts yet? I’m still batting zero on that.

No, not for April or May, frustrating. I’ve saved the tracking info on both and the delivery confirms from UPS.
I expect them to make good on it, even if it means crediting me $120 at once for Apr, May and June in July.

I recycled in store last week, and still do not see anything in my account. The cashier said something about you can only recycle cartridges that you buy from staples now. Is that a new requirement or is she talking out of her ass?

Are you looking at the purchase details? Don’t bother with the recycling section.

Thank you. They do show up there. So I guess staples hasn’t been updating the recycling section?
-
On another account, I placed the order on 5/30, but it didn’t ship until 6/1, so I guess that makes me ineligible to recycle in May? Order shows as 6/1 in purchase details and no recycling from 5/31 is showing up.

It’s usually updated AFTER the reward is issued, so it’s really useless.

Do you have your confirmation e-mail showing 5/30? You may be able to get them to credit you for May by contacting them and uploading the confirm e-mail. should go by the order date you paid for it, not the shipment date.
-
Those who recycled by sending ink carts to Staples need to be aware that Staples is crediting them to your account when they process them and not when they receive them. The ones I sent in early April and they received the first week in April, were processed late May and are credited for May. I sent them in for April, May and June. When I do turn them in at the store, there will probably be some overlap. I suggest checking your account before turning in at a store.
-
UPDATE:
Appears I got $40 in ink rewards posted in June for one of the two shipments I sent in April and May. I am going to call them to get the other $40 manually added since I have my proof of delivery that these were for April and May.
I dropped 20 off at the store the other day with them restarting in store ink cart drop off.
-
I received $40 for empties mailed in April, credited for May, posted in June.
When I didn’t receive ink rewards in May for April I presumed they’d post in June so I didn’t recycle in May.
Presumed anything I recycled in store in May would post in June and didn’t want to waste 20 carts.
In the end just lost out for one month. It’s ok.
Good luck with CS.

Good luck with CS.@my4mainecoons I pay both $32 in ink w/tax each 6 months and the $25 Staples Plus membership fee 1x a year. So losing out on the $40 doesn’t sit well with me. Personally, I don’t think I want to be penalized for their incredibly slow turn around time on processing the ink carts sent it. If I can prove they arrived well in time for that calendar month’s credit, I expect them to honor it. I understand about the pandemic, but since I do ‘pay’ now for this benefit of 20 per month and have to buy ink, I expect my rewards. if not for that, I’d pretty let it slide.

Good luck with CS.I finally got my credit for the ones I did on May 31 in store, but the actual rewards haven’t posted. Should they have posted by now?

I received credit for May, but not April. May submission was credited on May 31st.
-
Just talked to a rep and they said they will credit my account for the carts I mailed in within 3 days.
-
The ones I sent in early April were credited in May, so I did not bother turning in more cartridges in May (in the store). In hindsight, I should have done that anyway to claim for the April credit. Oh well.

you couldn’t at the store in May, weren’t accepting, you’d have had to ship 2 months worth, Apr and May.

Already restarted in May, around the time Office Depot restarted as well.
-
Called in this morning after checking online rewards status still showing 0 carts for April and May, and 29 carts recycled in June (yes, a -9 balance).
I supplied the UPS tracking numbers for all three months, and it was confirmed that they received them. I was told that it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get credit, so I should get credit for May’s carts in July, and for June’s carts in August.
She did credit me $40 for April’s carts which should show up in my account in 3 to 4 days.
-
Had to call one last time after getting credit for June carts in order to get credit for April. I turned in July carts in store.

I somehow got $80 in ink recycling for June. No idea how.

Did anyone read the small print on the rewards? Do you actually have to make a $100 minimum purchase to use one.
If so, does that mean that I’d have to spend $200 to use two of them?

I missed that. You are absolutely right. If that is indeed true after I spend my 2 $35 Rewards, I will never shop there again. That’s for sure.

I am on the phone with Staples Rewards now, Will update when I get a definitive answer.

The rep did not know why it is saying you have to spend $100 in the disclaimer, and she said they have not received any update regarding a change in terms on rewards. She said if I try to use them either in store or online and it doesn’t work due to some minimum purchase requirement to call Rewards back and they will make sure the order goes through with no minimum purchase required. I asked her if perhaps the minimum spend requirement only applies to online orders and she said it doesn’t apply to any order. She said Rewards are as good as cash.

To the best of my knowledge, this isn’t the case. If they did, guessI could live with it if they made the rewards valid for 6 months and you could accumulate them to have $100+ to spend, but at 45 days expiration, not happening and like you @MrVietnam , I’d not mess with it.

Office Depot is the main office store I shop at these days. I stopped shopping at Staples long ago except once in a while where there’s a really good 100% back rewards offer. I don’t even recycle with them anymore.

I am Premier, even though I haven’t made $1,000 in purchases at Staples for at least the last five years. Usually I spend less than $100 a year there. I think their system is screwed up somehow, but fortunately, screwed up in my favor.
-
If you print the reward coupons from the email link, there are no such terms. I think these old terms somehow crept back in. There is an old thread here. The $100 minimum was never implemented. The online restriction did apply for a few months, but it was removed.
