Thanks. We had a couple of these and used them a lot in the winter to avoid turning the house heat up when relaxing in the recliner or on the sofa. Unfortunately we lost them along with everything else when the house burned in 2014, and I’ve been wanting to replace them but hadn’t see a sale until your post.

Granted, I agree that due diligence should be taken to try to find any post on a deal, no matter how old, and then add to that post, but it did get carried to extremes on FW, IMHO. I am feeling a bit sad that aspect of FW has carried over to PhatWallet and that no matter how old a post is, some feel a post should never ever ever ever ever be posted again. On FB, I recall “post count” was extremely important to some as they earned badges and “attaboys” from them, and zealously guarded their territory, making sure that no matter how long ago they posted the information, no one else ever posted it ever again, but it also meant that often I missed good information because it would be posted once, I would have been busy and missed seeing it, there’d be quite a few responses the day it was posted, and then it would drop off the radar and time would go by, several months even, and then someone would post the deal again, I’d see it and think “Oh, cool, I didn’t know about that deal”…and someone would promptly have the new months-later post locked as a “repost”, and I have to go try to find the old old old old post, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. OK, that’s my viewpoint, and it’s one of the reasons I never post any deals I find on here. I just want us all to help each other. Sigh. Oh, and if you feel you need to flame out, go for it. I won’t care. I just want us to share and help each other.

Here is a nice double-dip if you are buying the Ziploc containers. Thanks! Free is great, especially during winter months when more of our limited budget goes for the heating bill and less for groceries. My DH loves to make a crockpot full of slow-cooking pinto beans and ham hocks. I can take them or leave them…mostly leave them. So I suggested we add chopped-up meatballs during the last hour of cooking…and the beans tasted pretty darn good.

Amazon Prime or in-store pickup works for us. We use Amazon Prime for TV anyway since the only station we can pick up with our outside antenna is the local PBS station. Between what’s available for free with Amazon Prime and using the $1 digital credits earned with choosing the slowest delivery time on Amazon to buy or rent a series or movie now and then, we manage to find enough to watch. Most of the other places we shop, like Lowes, have in-store pickup. I agree that prices are going to rise, though, so it’s more important than ever that we share genuine good deals whenever we find them.

Your post with this excellent deal reminds me of a former PhatWallet member, itsfriday, who used to post real savings deals from Lowes (paintbrushes, rooster scatter rug, etc.) but was run out of here. He/she/it was on Instagram, but I can’t find him/her/it. There’s an Instagram thread for #lowesclearance, but it’s not userfriendly. I can’t figure out how to “like” or “follow” it. Seems like people just post an image, sometimes with a little info about the clearance price, sometimes not, and you have to pick an image and click on it to see the details.

The Oscar Meyer Beef Franks for $1.99 are well worth stocking as they are never that low a price when they are (rarely) on sale. They freeze well, and can be fixed as hot dogs, as part of a casserole, or combined with other ingredients like rice or pasta or frozen hashbrowns, etc., and veggies for cheap filling meals throughout this winter when heating bills take more of the monthly budget. There’s tons of creative recipes online for inexpensive meals using hotdogs and cheap staple pantry/freezer items. I don’t like Red Baron Pizza, so I’ll pass on those.

Hi, FMB1 - I’ve missed chatting with you and comparing notes regarding the Amazon deals sites. I had never seen the whole movie either, but Carl has several times, so we both watched it all the way to the end. Once is enough for me, and it’s added to my list of “things I’ll never do again”. LOL
Yes, I have received a noticeable increase of spam on the Hotmail account I use for F&M stuff, which is not my Amazon account email, and a lot of it is the usual stuff where it looks like it’s coming from a legit site (like LinkedIn), but when you hover over the sender address, it’s actually from a scam/hacker, so I don’t click on it, of course, and just select and move it to Junk and then use the Block option. Blocking is cutting down on the volume.

I do get the coupons by mail, and I have gotten the “Best Customer” offering in the past, but not lately. I’ll make a note to call them. Thanks.
