If anyone is doing online deals this week and needs a good $9 filler.
The Carmax weather guard lip balm is $2.24 each,$2BC on 2, limit not stated (either 2 or 4)
There’s a .75/1 IB offer limit 5 if you’re IB account is linked to your RA account.
So if you buy 4, pay $8.96, get $4BC and $3 IB = $1.96 for 4 (or free a/bc-ib when factoring in $10bc/50) for online orders this week.
To find out a limit add the item to an online cart. I added 8 and it showed that I would earn $8BC so the limit appears to be 4.

RE: Kroger buys Albertson's Co (including all related chains - Acme, Shaws, Safeway, etc)
@kimi Remember, you earn 2x J4U Rewards for 3rd party gc excluding phone, gas and prepaid MC/VC. No Rewards for buying Safeway branded gc.
I bought Shaw’s eGC from Amazon. Then used the Shaw’s eGC to buy Shaw’s plastic gc in store. I’d earn 2% back from iBotta on the transaction but no J4u. Then I used the plastic Shaw’s gc to buy Amazon g.c. That earned another 2% from iBotta as well as 2x J4u Rewards. Many cashiers were baffled by eGC so it was smoother for me to convert paper to plastic where the cashiers knew how to use eGC then to use the plastic gc where cashiers were not as savvy. Net 4% ($24) iBotta and a $20/$20 each time I rolled $600.

RE: 1/4-1/28 $10 back in rewards when you recycle or shred in Staples store
@mistercheap But will the SKU for BATTERY RECYCLE generate Rewards? Did your receipt say BATTERY RECYCLE or OTHER TECHNOLOGY? I didn’t want to take the chance so I had it re-rung as OTHER TECHNOLOGY.
You could piece out an old PC. I pulled the hard drive from one. It also has an external wireless card which I can recycle separately. Today I recycled a fax machine that had been in my attic.
-
RE: 1/4-1/28 $10 back in rewards when you recycle or shred in Staples store
Today when I recycled I received both a $10/$30 and a $10/$20.
I got 2 Charmin 18/72 @ $18.99 ($19.99 at Target so not over priced).
$37.98 - $10/$30 -$20 Rewards - 2@$1/1 Charmin mq.
$5.98+tax so $3.17 eachThen did it again to use the $10/$20.
3@$18.99=$56.97-$10/$20-$40 ink Rewards-3@$1/1 mq.
$3.97+tax so ~$1.39 eachResell for $15 ea.

@george2001 Thanks, guys. Sigh: My local store isn’t participating in these in-store recycling bonus programs. They say they “don’t have the boxes” to do it. Pfft.
Keep something small in your car to recycle just in case you’re near a different Staples at some point in the month. I only make a trip to my local store (5 miles) if I haven’t already recycled elsewhere that month.

RE: PETSMART: Activate offer to earn 500 Treats points for every TD scored during the SuperBowl (no purchase req'd)
I just received the email. My point total didn’t change so the 16,057 points does include Super Bowl points.
@MISTERCHEAP 16, 057 is the number of points in my account. If I add up the points in my transaction history it only adds up to 7054 but the transaction history only covers 2022 so the other 5k points must be from older transactions. I thought that points don’t expire but I have some expiring in June.
I ordered a couple of cases of canned food from PetSmart and they arrived dented. When I order from Chewy or Amazon, no dents.

RE: Does anyone else have j4u Saturday Sampler - Violife fake cheese?
@mistercheap said in Does anyone else have j4u Saturday Sampler - Violife fake cheese?:
Yes, I had it, last day to redeem. Got the shreds of the Violife, store was already wiped out of the herbs, but may try another store later today as we use their garlic variety, very handy to have around when you don’t have fresh garlic on hand.
It’s really easy to make your own emergency garlic. I often ended up composting leftover fresh garlic. In oil is the only safe way to freeze garlic. I put peeled cloves in (canola) oil using a baby food size jar. Oil thaws very quickly at room temp. Glass doesn’t absorb garlic like plastic would. Remove the jar from the freezer, let the oil melt, remove what you need, back into the freezer.

@jess888 I recently got FoodSaver bags online. I used to get Ziploc bags until the prices skyrocketed. Glad bags are cheaper. Coffee, Pellegrino Limonata. I’ve been getting the $4.99 tub of Clorox wipes with the $5 from tech recycling. Dishwasher detergent, large trash bags. Gallon jugs of Windex and Mr Clean. I like the tub of Weiman stainless steel cleaner wipes.

RE: Meet "RITEY" a stray cat named for Rite-Aid
This appeared on my YT feed a few days ago. I don’t think the algorithm knew that I shop at RA,. I think it was because I watch Dodo and other cat related videos.
Last month I clicked on a video about a “talking” cat that had all of its teeth extracted. There’s no way that YT knew that my cat was about to have all of her teeth extracted. I commented appreciation for the video as I was very anxious about the upcoming surgery. The response to my Comment was amazing. So many people reported on their experiences and offered support.

It’s times like these I am glad I have stockpiled $1,850 in Forever stamps. Each price increase for me is gladly welcomed and simply seen as a return on investment.
LOL @MrVietnam , honestly do you mail that much stuff? Even if you used $100 a year in stamps, would take you 18.5 years (maybe less as prices keep rising). I keep about $60-80 on hand, unless you’re going to sell them at a profit somehow, you might be better off investing that money at 5% at year to keep up with rising rates of stamps.
I haven’t bought stamps for years. Those are stamps I bought long ago and their value keeps on going up as price increases come. I would love to sell some off, but how and to who?
I would buy some for a reasonable price. Reasonable factoring in that I got your RA cards to Gold in the past. 😉

I think it is unlikely that the promo begins on a Saturday as the sales week begins on Sunday. Wait until Sunday the 16th. The website could have a mistake that they will correct. It’s harder to correct the thousands of print signs posted in stores.

Need help: Adding Google Play to Amazon Fire - Resolved
This is my 3rd Fire tablet. I’ve used APK to make the Fire an Android device and installed Google Play so I can use Chrome, etc. on the previous 2 Fires.
This is the first time I’ve had the latest version of the tablet with newest OS.
I need help figuring out which version of Google Play Services to download from APK.The instructions say: Download the file labeled Google Play Services (64-bit ARM, nodpi, Android 9.0+). Note: Look for the first file not labeled beta. You’ll need to click on the Variants text below the file and search for the version we mentioned above.
The article I’m following was written Feb. 21, 2023. There are versions of Google Play Services after that date that don’t say Beta. I scrolled back to a Feb. 2 release then All Variants but I’m not sure if the 2nd one on the list is the correct variant. It says arm64-v-8a + armeabi-v7a for Android 9.0+ nodpi.
Is this the correct one?
The Fire is 12th generation running Fire OS 8.3.1.4.Thanks.

RE: Need help: Adding Google Play to Amazon Fire - Resolved
@fivetalents Thanks very much. I had to try 3 different versions of the Google Play Store to get one that would install. The author of the article noted that this Fire isn’t as easy to adapt as previous generations so it wasn’t just me. This is my 3rd Fire for ~ $20.
$59.99 - 30% for using 1 Amex Reward point - $25 Amazon gc for trade in of previous Fire. I went through TCB for 8% cashback. Now I can ship the trade in.

I called Staples to ask why we didn’t get a $10 and a $5 Reward. The rep gave me his email address and I sent him a screen shot of the ad. He checked around and no one had an answer. He said that because the program was new maybe it wasn’t working properly and to compensate me he sent a $20 Reward coupon.
p.s. They gave me Elite status since they messed something up last year. Elite has a dedicated US based customer service phone number. I wouldn’t have bothered to call if I didn’t have that number.

RE: REMINDER: IF you signed up for 2-3 months free PANERA Sip Club in March/April, don't forget to cancel to avoid auto renew charge!
@mrvietnam More caffeine than coffee usually has or are you talking about the caffeinated fruit beverages? I get the agave lemonade (no added caffeine) and the decaf coffee. I pour hot decaf into a paper cup then fill a large plastic cup with ice. After the decaf has cooled a bit I pour it over the ice to make iced decaf. I re-use both the paper and the plastic cups multiple times. The paper eventually starts to leak and reheating in the microwave melts the glue making them wear out faster. I carry clean empty cups & lids in my car.
