@mistercheap The way I read it, it required going to the store. I don’t know what stock will be like so I’m thinking of ordering online for pick up then doing a return-rebuy so my purchase is done in store.

@mrvietnam Yes.
For those who are doing this, make sure you save the rebate form today.
Macy’s appears to update their rebate form links and it took a bit of searching to find last month’s pillow rebate form this week. -
RE: Letter from IRS and Call to Prove Identityposted in Finance
@richard Not what you asked but… a few years ago I received a letter from my State Tax Dept notifying me that a return had been filed in my name that they didn’t think was real. I confirmed that I hadn’t yet filed my taxes. State advised me to notify the IRS but before I had a chance to do that, the IRS notified me that a return had been filed in my name that they didn’t think was mine. Of course the false returns were looking for large refunds. This happened nationally, to thousands of folks.
So, I would just have in hand the documents they mentioned. They might want you to read a line entry from a previous return so they can confirm its really you.
When my SS# was mis-used I was in the process of re-financing. The lender wasn’t able to get a copy of my previous year’s return because of all this. So I had to call the IRS. I was on “hold” for literally an hour.
My advice for when you call them? Empty your bladder, pour yourself a cup of coffee, grab some snacks and get comfortable.

@marcopolomle This set is usually $29.99. Toss in a carpenter pencil or some hand soap. pay 98¢ oop and have a nice socket set.
I also like the set of 3 mini pliers but my store hasn’t had them for months.
Tool prices have risen significantly since they started the spend $75 get $50 back in pts on tools promo.

We’ve gotten lots of Oxo and Pyrex.
Outdoor Life clothes are nice. Nordic Track clothes are cheap but serviceable. Skip the Everlast unless you just want cheap T shirts. We prefer the heavier Champion T shirts.
Let me know what you’d like besides shoes or fashion, lol and I can help you find something. Can’t let $30 go to waste!

@fivetalents I had good dial up. Friend visiting from different part of the state had broadband and thought my dial up was better than her broadband. I’m sure she’s got faster internet now-- she spends money more easily than me.

I think more people would have what I have if they could but pretty sure my price is grandfathered and my service wouldn’t be available to new subscribers. Same with my $13/mo cell phone plan.

RE: Albertson's to purchase remaining Rite Aid stores.posted in Deal Discussion
@zennuts Initially Walgreens wanted to buy RA. FTC shot that down. So then Wags bought most of the RA stores. The transition of the purchased RA stores to Wags stores began in November 2017.**
The remaining RA stores, those not sold to Walgreen’s were just sold to Albertsons.
** Transition began in my Rite Aid stores on Jan. 30, 2018. Effective that date the pharmacy officially became a Walgreen’s while the front of store still says Rite Aid. The employees are now all Walgreen’s employees. They had to re-apply for their jobs, they have new benefits, etc. The top of my Rite Aid receipt shows the RA logo. Underneath where the store location is listed it now says “Walgreens dba Rite Aid Store #1234”. That’s the most obvious change. The complete transition including front of store appearance is supposed to take more than a year.
Most customers don’t notice a difference. For me the biggest difference is that my receipts no longer automatically report to SavingStar. I have to manually submit receipts to get credit. For purchases where I want a double dip I purchase in a non-Walgreens owned Rite Aid.

keep in mind that these are not the “usual” Kind bars that one sees for sale as singles. Those don’t have any fillers in them which is why they are more expensive. These are “baked with at least five super grains” e.g. rice or any other carb filler. Healthy Grains Granola Bars are always less expensive than what I call “real” Kind bars.

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Threadposted in Hot Deals
@mrvietnam I’ve gotten the following:
carpenter pencil
micro clamp
Craftsman 4 head screwdriver key chain thing
bottle of liquid hand soapIt depends what your stores have in stock. My main store only has hand soap but I like pencils and clamps so I order the big item from main store and the pencil from a Hometown store. You can order from as many stores as you like.
OT: I’ve been ordering single carpenter pencils as fillers. Pick them up at Hometown Store (franchise). The first time I did it they thought it was someone from Corporate testing their ability to fill online orders. After I picked it and others up I got the reputation as “the person who orders a pencil.” Fast forward 2 years. When recently in the Hometown store to pick something up there were several other orders for pencils-- from other customers.

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Threadposted in Hot Deals
@mrvietnam This is the usual list of exclusions. Most of them fall under the category of grocery but since people haven’t understood that grocery includes pet products, paper products, cleaning supplies, laundry care, air care, diapers, baby wipes (anything baby), food storage and garbage bags they got more specific rather than just saying “grocery” was excluded. Pharmacy and HBA are always excluded but they didn’t spell out OTC medicines, bandaids, shampoo, body wash, etc.
School & office supplies have always been excluded as well.I often get Housewares. Things like Rubbermaid TakeAlongs are housewares vs. the Ziploc equivalent is Food Storage. Wilton brand parchment paper is Housewares vs. Reynolds (?) brand is Paper Products. I’ve started converting from old plastic food storage to glass (see Anchor Hocking) and to Rubbermaid Brilliance. Lawn & garden-- plant supports, fertilizer, weed killer, bird seed & feeders, Black & Decker gardening tools. Automotive: windshield washer fluid, gas can, a few times I’ve gotten Mobil One oil and submitted for the rebate. Tools including paint brushes. Night lights. Wireless doorbell. Command hooks. I could go on & on. Clothing: Hanes underwear. If you really can’t find anything, get storage totes for your stock pile. I used to collect the Hefty totes but they no longer carry Hefty. The Snapware were also great but can’t find those anymore either.

RE: Free Samples CANIDAE Dog & Cat Foodposted in Expired Deals
@tuskers PetCo or PetSmart gave out free after coupon bags of Canidae last year (?) . I chose one called Limited Ingredients. Sounded good. Just chicken & veggies, no grain. I’ve been mixing a little into their regular food each feeding. Cat kibble can all look alike, kwim? But one day it looked like all the leftover at the bottom of the dish was the Canidae. So next feeding I put the Canidae on one side of the bowl and their usual (ProPlan) on the other side of the bowl. Waddya know. They ate the ProPlan and left behind the Canidae.
I use the freebie stuff to stretch the ProPlan. I’m back to mixing the ProPlan & Canidae before I put the bowls down. That way they eat it. But I won’t increase ratio. A few months ago I tried to feed a PetSmart freebie, Simple Source or something like that. Had 15 lbs of it so tried to gradually increase the amount of Simple Source. Boy did they hate that one. Stopped eating. I ended up donating it.
I remind them that there are starving kittens in Africa but they don’t seem to care. They boycott the food then I feel guilty that they’re not eating and give them what they want.
