Anytime I’ve gotten free books from tradepub I’ve always used “fake” info into the pages and pages of info they request. After a couple, I’ve simply stopped due to the hurdles required to download some free PDF file. It still might be worth it to some folks.

RE: Free Masks For Every American - Dhvani
Well, I received my Your FREE MASK is Ready To Ship email today. Turns out the cheapest shipping for my free mask is $6.77 or $8.92 for Carbon Neutral (??). Since I’m now seeing excess hand sanitizer, soap, and even masks at Goodwill stores I think I’ll pass and just use what I already have. Not sure if they initially bit off more than they could chew or it was a feeble plan to promote their business but even if their hearts were in the right place it’s unfortunately “too little too late” for me.

RE: COVID Test for Hawaii "fee" with insurance
Since I’ve never even visited Hawaii take this response for what it’s worth! My experience in New Mexico was the polar opposite of what you outlined. I registered with a State site and received a notification appointments were available and how to schedule. Once scheduled I arrived at the location and literally walked in and gave them my name and Date of Birth, sat down and they injkected my vaccine. They also gave me the card showing brand and date of injection. At the time I was waiting, 15 minutes in my case, I received my appointment for the second injection. At no point was I asked about insurance. I’m not so naïve that there is enough information traded around that “they” could not have found my insurance and/or Medicare information if they chose to.
As I understand it the Federal Government is paying for the Vaccine however this link indicates this:
Vaccine providers can be reimbursed for vaccine administration fees by patients’ public or private insurance companies, or by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Provider Relief Fund for uninsured patients. So it’s somewhat sad that the folks in Hawaii are inclined to put people through hoops just to receive the vaccine. Good Luck.

I’ve “ignored” users but it still shows the posting but not the text in the body so not really useful. I don’t want to see a downvote or similar button but perhaps that is what will be needed.

RE: Question about banking
Slightly off topic but I’m one of those without a local bank account. When I needed something notarized I remembered I have a Bank of America Credit card so was able to visit a local BofA branch. Even without having any kind of deposit account or other loan, etc, I was able to obtain the free notary service for an affidavit.

@rick505 Wow thats interesting. So essentially we should shift our focus specifically to medical bills?
I’m not sure but as mentioned above I’m also probably not your customer but with aging of America, increases in medical expenses and perhaps inability for individuals able/willing to negotiate billings it might be something to look into.

RE: Discussion on Startups
Possibly a future in negotiating medical bills. I can’t recall the forum or site but have followed discussions when people asked for guidance in attempting to drop a surprise medical bill. Most centered around finding out various negotiated “amount allowed” insurance rates and starting from there over the “Amount billed” amount they received. Even offering to settle for 50% seemed to be accepted by hospitals and Doctors.

RE: 15 Applebee's locations will close for good in the fourth quarter of 2020. Nearly 100 IHOP locations would be closing in the next six months.
There was an IHOP built and opened just prior, well within a year, of Covid. I drove past a couple of days ago and thought I saw a realtor for sale/rent sign posted on the front door. I suspect it will be one of the “nearly 100” closing.

RE: Why are there so many new companies?
I’m curious if “new companies are being created at nearly twice the rate this year compared to previous years” means new Corporations/Partnerships (basically formal business) or include anyone with a “side gig” type business? I also wonder if “With less people working, more people have time on their hands, which can spur creativity” it may also be more out of desperation/need. Sorry, that’s all I got but certainly will be following this thread.

RE: Can't run MS Office . It keeps asking for the product key then close the app
I’d start with downloading and install Keyfinder thing and see what might be stored as the product key for your Office 2003. This might be better explained at: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-find-product-keys-for-older-ms-office-versions-2625094
I’d check and see if there is a stored key that might be different than what you want to enter (or at least confirm you typed it correctly…B instead of 8 etc).Of course, this is where I get snarky and suggest you just abandon MS Office, especially version 2003, and install Libre Office but I won’t do that

RE: The 'cut the cord' discussion thread: Tips, tricks & advice to get rid of cable, still get the channels you want and save money
@c3 One issue with Comcast, and possibly others, is they offer different rates at different locations. The price you receive is not available to me unless I get basically dial-up Internet speeds.
I also have a limited service but wanted higher Internet Speeds. Those speeds were only offered with larger bundles. When pressed they would offer “Internet only” but at a significant price jump even over the bundled rates. Finally was able to juggle speed and bundled price but still at the $100+ per month and they add a $6.00/month local TV access when I use an antenna in my attic.

RE: Bankrupted Stein Mart is closing all of its stores. Here’s a map of where they are
I used to like the store and could always find somewhat decent prices on a piece of clothing or two. They closed my closest store a few years ago and I never felt the need to travel to the next closest one 15ish miles away.

You might want to confirm it’s the same package as I just downloaded it for free. HOWEVER, note all caps, it appears to have in program ads, and when I opened and closed the app for the first time a browser window popped open with a game page. Not sure if users will be forced to deal with intrusive ads and pop-ups (or similar) everytime the app is used.

RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
Perhaps I missed it but just received this from ALLY:
Because of this, the Annual Percentage Yield (APY) for your Online Savings Account is changing from 1.50% APY to 1.25% APY on all balance tiers, and the APY for your Money Market Account is changing from 0.75% APY to 0.50% APY on all balance tiers. RE: No sound on my PC
I’d say if sound plays during initial boot then you have no real hardware issues. That is, cords plugged in and speakers actually work. I’d right-click on the start button and look at Device Manager to see if Windows has an issue with any drivers, etc. shown generally with an exclamation point. You could also expand the Sound device(s) and see what Windows thinks is correct just in case.
-
RE: No sound on my PC
Presuming Windows 10 (but others may work the same, it’s been too long for me to recall), right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar. Generally, the lower right corner of the screen. Select “Open Sound Settings” and see what it shows for “Output device”. If it doesn’t indicate something like speakers or what looks appropriate, select the drop-down box and look for something else. While there look at the Master Volume to make sure it’s turned up and not muted.

RE: eBay Best Price Guarantee: 110% of the Difference
I wonder how that will work when I buy something on a whim only to find out they are an Amazon “reshipper” or whatever it’s called. They basically order from Amazon and have it sent to me and I find the Amazon gift receipt inside the box and see an Amazon warehouse sender address? On a couple of those, I see the Amazon price a bit cheaper but then again I’ve seen it more expensive.
