Where do you buy tires for your vehicle?
-
I need to replace all 4 tires on my truck soon. Looking for the best value. Where do you recommend I go?
TIA!

What does this or tires have to do with,“It looks like your login session is no longer active, or no longer matches with the server. Please refresh this page.”?

@sarahb I’ve gotten tires online from Discount Tires when there are sales & rebates. Go through a portal for cash back of course. Costco has good prices for tires if you’re a member. Sears if you can get 100% back in points and use the points. I think @briarycliffs did that last year.
-
Up vote on Discount Tire Direct. I have also bought from TireRack.com who includes 2 year Road Hazard Warranty for free.
-
Sam’s club has Goodyear tires on their one day sale Nov 9th, $100 off a set and $60 off installation.
I did buy my at Sears and got the whole amount back in points. I think those days are gone through. Don’t overlook Walmart too, depending on the tire, they can be competitive.
-
If you can wait, the best deal I have gotten was a online-only deal from Costco on New Year’s (Eve? or Day?).
Costco does sell better tires, so if you’re just looking for cheap tires, then check your local farm equipment type store (in Minnesota/Wisconsin it’s Mills Fleet Farm).
Sam’s Club is probably similar to Costco, if you want good tires then just get whichever brand they currently have on sale.
(Disclosure - we have 7 vehicles and 2 motorcycles, I swear we’re replacing tires on something once a year… in husband’s case, he’s gone through 4 sets of tires this summer on his motorcycle - grrrr!)
-
I also recommend Discount Tires…not many places carry Pirelli tires for my sedan, and Discount had both low prices and excellent service.
Looks like the rebates all ended Oct 31; keep an eye on this link for the next batch:

55,000,000 tires.

Walmart will mount and balance for $20 ea.

Walmart will mount and balance for $20 ea.I get new tires mounted when changing from summer to winters or back. We pay about $40 - 50 for tire swap here. That’s to change & balance 4 tires.
-
I’d also recommend Discount Tire for the same reasons given by @KohlsPowrShopper , down to the 4 Pirelli tires and exceptional service, on top of competitive prices. I waited to purchase until they had a $100 off 4 tires rebate.
I don’t know about the other brands, but Discount Tire also offers a tire maintenance package with any set of tires that includes free rotation, balancing or rebalancing service, air pressure check or puncture repair.
-
I would recommend comparing total cost of ownership with Costco.
Costco will balance and rotate tires for free for the life of your tires. They also will swap out snow tires if you have them and buy them there - I’m being quoted $140(!!!) to do that for my non-Costco tires, which of course totals $280 a year to put the regular ones back on.
You can get tires more cheaply at Discount Tire if you’re handy and have some garage space, but for those of us who don’t I’ve found that Costco wins the total price game about 2/3 of the time.
-
@orthros $140 to swap??? That’s crazy. Twice as much as we pay in northeast. Are they aligning too?
-
@fivetalents I get free rotations at PepBoys. Discount Tire gives me free air pressure top-ups and they provided seasonal tire/wheel swaps for 5 years although I’ve never purchased tires from them. (or PepBoys)

Can you provide more info on how to get PepBoys to rotate your tires for free or getting 5 free years of seasonal tire/wheel swaps at Discount Tire (e.g., product/service purchases)? Even if you didn’t get your wheel/tires there, they must expect to recoup costs somehow.
-
@fivetalents PepBoys.com offers appointments for free rotations if you join their rewards program. (free to join). I can’t recall why DT didn’t charge me for the swap-outs. Maybe they simply loved having my red G35 coupe in the bay.

Thank you all for your replies!

I got that deal for a relative, but that was a price mistake which Costco honored later.
-
@sarahb Care to share the tire size you are hunting and the best price you’ve found locally?

I don’t think it was a price mistake, they had it on their website (Visa Rebate card) and according to SD, they’ve run this sale other years.
LOL, I’m in Minnesota… we don’t bother switching tires fall/spring. I get all-season tires and have never had a problem in the snow (or rain) with them on my '02 Tahoe (or DH’s Silverado, or sons Malibu, Equinox, and Saturn Vue).

There will be great sales on Black Friday. Walmart, PepBoys, etc.
Typically a deal to get 4 tires with free install/balance at a great sale price when you take the road hazard warranty (PepBoys) don’t think WalMart forces that. Good thing is, they give you a window for the install as long as you buy them then. You can also get cashback via portal on these deals for extra savings. They carry most popular sizes for all kinds of cars/SUVs/Trucks.
so if you can wait about 3 weeks, you’ll be saving some serious money.

The offer was a Costco gift card. The instant discount ($70?) was still active online, so when the gift card was sent out, they deducted the instant discount from the value of the gift card. Later, Costco issued a refund for the deducted amount, probably because many people complained.

@KohlsPowrShopper You should cross-post these tire discounts/offers in Hot Deals so that more people will see them (a lot of folks don’t frequent the Deal Discussion forum or wouldn’t look for BF deals in this thread given it’s title).
