a couple of stores closed up here in my general area over the last year. I’m sure the pandemic has hurt but also I’m in an area where local sub shops make such great subs that the competition is fierce. Subway’s prices have gone up quite a bit the last 3 or 4 years. Many sandwiches regular price are $7-9 for foot long and I can’t blame people who can get a much better quality sub at local sub shops for that price.
Subway was at its peak about 10-12 years ago when Jared with his turkey sub diet was the commercial spokesperson, but of course, he’s rotting in jail now. I remember when the stores around here had 3/$10 footlong specials and many bogos when the price of a footlong was $5-6.

I thought this was a national promo and has been going on since the BOGO offer ended a couple months back. I see TV ads for it regularly. Chicago area in my case, FWIW.

That’s true, but don’t think the deal was ever posted, so I made a thread for those not aware.

Ah, fair enough. I guess I was so used to it I wondered if I was missing something.

I did not realize that the local outlets were being forced to accept the tiny lower profits, rather than the parent corporation helping to cover the promotional costs of these offers.

I did not realize that the local outlets were being forced to accept the tiny lower profits, rather than the parent corporation helping to cover the promotional costs of these offers.I guess there’s a trade off, they aren’t paying to advertise it and likely it is bringing in some customers they may not have otherwise gotten. Plus the hope that customers buy high profit items like drinks and cookies/chips with their two for $10 sandwiches to offset the lower profit margin on the sandwiches. Sometimes not all franchise owners see the big picture, lower profits on incremental business is better than no profit on no business.
