[No Longer Available] Google Pay: Spend $50+ At Target & Get $21 Back - expires 12/31/20 (Seems this deal died early for new activations. If you’ve already activated the deal, it’s still available.)

Google Pay was recently refreshed. There is currently a $21 referral bonus worth doing as well. Looks like Google Pay is going to have some good promotions to drive adoption. Seems like online gift card purchases work as well. To do the deal you need to link your card in GPay, activate the offer and then click the button ‘use online’.

I bought the $50 Ebay e-gift card and got the $21 reward (pending) instantly.
Bought the Tracfone sim+ 1 year service + min/mms/data bundle for record low $21 SD FP with the Ebay GC.

I am new to Google Pay. How foes this work? I have an iPhone. Can I use this offer at the store by just paying with my credit card in store that I have linked to Google Pay or must I make the purchase online. You can’t pay directly with your iPhone using Google Pay at a Target store, right?

It says valid online at Target’s website. I wonder if there’s a Google Pay payment method, kind of like Paypal on the website.

@dangeruss GP offers work like Amex offers.

@dangeruss GP offers work like Amex offers.
They do? Amex offers are linked to a specific card. So as long as you activate the offer and you use that card as per the terms you get the offer.
How would this work with GP? Do you have the activate the offer and then it’s good as long as you use any linked card, or do you have to use GP to pay?

@dangeruss Link any/all MC, Visa, Amex. Activate offer. Use linked card(s) via dot com or store.
I was going to call GP “card agnostic”. But…I didn’t want to be accused of making fun of someone’s non-religion.

So there is no need to actually pay with your phone itself? I have an iPhone. So all I would need to do is pay with my linked credit card - no phone needed or involved - right? That is easy.

Do the referral $21 bonus and this $21 Target bonus stack for spending $50?? a little unsure. even if they don’t great deal.

How long does it take for the transaction to post in GP? I purchased online at Target and I see no transaction anywhere in GP.

Not sure about online purchases, but for in store purchases I got my $21 by the time I got home from the store and checked. Really fast credit.

I had mine post almost immediately… it does say ‘while supplies last’ so not sure if they maxed out the offer. Wish they’d tell you.

I think I got scroogled here. Had the offer activated and tried to use the card contactless, but it wasn’t enrolled yet and I didn’t have the card on me to confirm. So I added another card and made the contactless payment at target, and when I looked today, that card wasn’t activated for the offer (or rewards I guess).
So I guess adding the card to gpay and activating it for rewards are two separate steps you need to take (and make sure the card is activated for the offer before you make the purchase).

Seems this deal died early for new activations. If you’ve already activated the deal, it’s still available. I guess what this teaches us for Google Pay deals going forward is if there is a good deal activate it right away and use it as soon as possible because it probably won’t be available anymore even though it hasn’t reached its expiration date. as was the case for this hot deal. Glad I jumped on the deal right away. 42% off a $50 gift card is nothing to sneeze about.
