I recycle as many as 40 a month between Staples and two OD accounts (mine/son’s), so this is about 11 months worth. Given I get $80 a month in rewards from these, doesn’t take long to break even on the $70 outlay. I typically like 300 at a time but those deals dried up over a year ago.

It’s been at this price for a while. I bought them last August at this price, surprised at how much the price went up from my previous purchase in March, 2020 of a lot of 300 for $18.50 + $12.95 shipping ($31.45 + tax)! Where did I put that darn time machine?

Not surprising at all. These inks typically come from large businesses and with the pandemic and everyone going to work from home set ups, the supply dried up (no pun intended). All the remote working was the cause really.

Well, I heard on the news there is a new mutation of Covid (Omicron) that might cause problems and a return to remote working if it spreads…

@mistercheap Did you use the App or the browser extension? I don’t need empties but I have the $5/$15 Amex ebay offer to use. I placed one ebay order in 2020 and one order so far in 2021. Hate to waste it, lol.

I added the item to my cart on the computer, then used my phone to start at IB and pay in the ebay app. Just felt safer going that route as I didn’t want to lose out on the 10% cb which was significant.

@mistercheap I’m fairly confident that if I bought this many, that would result in the “sunset” of Staples ink rewards program before I used even a third of them. That with no Office Depot stores within any reasonable driving distance.
Now if a couple other like-minded (cheap bstrd) neighbors wanted to split up an order, that would be another story.

Good luck to all those who are stocking up!I understand where you’re coming from, but small quantities just aren’t cost effective on Ebay right now. people are charging $30 for 100 carts with extra for shipping in some cases. So it’s worth the gamble for me given I have both Staples and OD around here.

I got an offer from the seller for 9.99% off the selling price and took it. Got the 10% from Ibotta as well. Hopefully they don’t change the program.

Gosh, the price of the empty cartridges are so outrageous now that it’s not worth it to recycle at OD anymore.

The 450 cartridges now go for $97.95.

@penguin110 That’s probably the only one cost wise makes sense to buy, but I don’t feel comfortable holding over 400 cartridges.
