I just stopped at the drive-up at a Wendy’s in upstate NY. The menu priced the double stack at $2.69, so I asked if they were selling them for $1 and was told yes. When I got to the window and asked if you have to mention the $1 deal to get that price, the girl laughed and said, “Yes, we’re not supposed to advertise it…it’s a secret”. So it’s like the summer promo they’ve run in the past where any kid’s meal is $1.99…unless you don’t ask, then you get charged full price.

Same thing here - went yesterday not knowing about this. Menu price is $2.19 but was charged $1 without saying anything. Pleasantly surprised as this is the sandwich I usually get when I go there.

Locally they are also having a “4 for $4” menu item but it’s in a lower corner of the menu board. I’ve oprder that far too many time to even admit but the burger for $1 is great.

FYI, the 4 for $4 has been going on for at least a year, sort of a permanent promotion. not sure when the $1 burger is ending.

i ordered 5 of them in Carmel NY. No ads anywhere but clerk said 1.00. You can refrigerate them wrapped in foil, but must use by the next day or bun becomes soggy. BTW I asked for tomato on all of them and was not charged. Does it come with them? Also couldn’t find onion in there, unless it was microscopic. Obviously they want you to buy drinks or fries,
which I don’t. Drink diet Snapple with it. They do have a great taste!!

Just went to Wendy’s for lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find out when I asked if there was a charge to add lettuce and tomato to my Double Stack, cashier told me no, so I did. Made it much more satisfying to say the least.
YMMV of course, but if you like your burger with l & t added, certainly costs nothing to ask if they will do it.

McD charges me .35 for tomato and .30 for leaf lettuce when I add it to the $2 Bacon McDouble.

Fast food ok, but I’d be annoyed at more upscale places that charge $8 for a burger and add, $1 for cheese. I mean, what does a slice of cheese cost them, 5 cents?
