Do y’all think the $250 back on $250 and $50 back on $50 will stack in-store the next 2 days for $300 back on $250?

No, the offers wouldn’t stack because the $250 back offer is a Sears offer and the $50 back offer is a Kmart offer. Two different stores, so no stacking chances.
Here is the Kmart $50 back offer for those who don’t know about it:
Members get 100% CASHBACK in points when you make a qualifying purchase at Kmart. Points award 11/27/18, valid for 7 days. Max $50 in points and 1 time per member.Valid through November 25, 2018 11:59 PM CST
Purchases can either be made in store or at kmart.com starting Thanksgiving Day and running through Sunday, 11/25/18.

@mrvietnam There is a $50 back on $50 Sears offer, in-store only, 11/22 and 11/23 only. It’s in the ad.

OK. I missed that. I don’t follow Sears that much anymore as I don’t have a Sears store conveniently located. Someone would have to buy something in store for $250+ to see if they stacked or not Would be real nice if they did.
-
I thought about doing the $250 but I don’t have enough play money left to tie up $250. Hoping there will be other, smaller cost “freebies” in the next month and I’ll want to do those.

If you can help me with a scenario I’ll try it.
I have $120 in pts and $20/$150 FC. My plan right now: 2 socket sets $199.98
$199.98 - $120 in pts - $20 FC - $59.98 on gc
get back $82.50 x 2 on gc and $50 pts.I suspect one has to spend $300 to get back $50 and $250.
-
@my4mainecoons I was just going to do 3 tool sets. I could see it going one of two ways. Either they code it as $50 back if you spend anywhere between $50-$249.99, else $250 back if you spend $250+; or I’m hopeful it’ll just be $300 back on $250. Worst case I should still get at least $250, I’d think…but of course that is the much more annoying deal, with $25 back every week for 10 weeks. If they won’t stack, I’d really rather just do the $50 back on $50 and call it a day.
-
@lo I suppose one could return it if it doesn’t work out. My only store is an hour away and I don’t want to have to go there every week to cash out $25. I could order online but then I’m spending not cashing out. “Cash out” stock is also problematic. My favorite cheap tool is oos at my store so I’ve been ordering them online using pts, having them shipped to my home then returning in store so I can rebuy. Hmmmm… maybe that’s what I should do, just keep ordering $25 worth of small tools with the weekly pts and return/rebuy in batches…
-
@my4mainecoons In my experience, when you do a RR tool deal, you can’t return it. Maybe it’d work if you pay back the GC amount in cash/CC, but I refuse to do that. A return won’t go through otherwise. A post void works, but it’s always hit or miss whether I can find a cashier who knows how to do that.
I decided I didn’t want to bother with weekly installments either and ended up only doing the $50 back on $50. Worked fine FWIW.
-
@lo I did same. Just went for the 50’s. Had $25 on one acct and got $5 tool g.c x 5. Debating buying $50 to get $50 in pts on that acct but otherwise bought socket sets. Only had $500 on g.c in September, spent down to $40 but g.c is back over $300 now and the $50/$50 is nice.
-
Get this. Yesterday I did the buy $50 at Kmart, get $50 back in points deal. But before I did the $50 transaction, I did about a $6 transaction and paid with points after using a $1 manufacturer coupon. What happened is the system treated the $1 manufacturer’s coupon as cash and have me back $1 in bonus points and then a little later when I bought my $50 worth of stuff I only got the standard penny in points for each dollar spent. I bought mostly Smartsense stuff and it had advertised at the store buy $10 or more of Smartsense, get 25% back in points, but I didn’t even get that offer eitherLooks like a call to SYW customer service is in order.
-
@mrvietnam The thing is, they sort of conditioned us to think you have to spend $50 to get back $50. This is the first “variable” offer, right?
I had $50 in pts and I knew I needed to spend $50 oop to qualify for Sears $50/$50. I was buying $99.99 item. If I’d used my points I would only be paying $49.99 oop so I bought a small item first to get my points below $50. Then bought the $99.99 item with $45 in pts and earned the $50 in pts back.
-
Yes, this offer was variable, up to $50 and you only had one transaction to earn it. They did condition us in the past for fixed amounts. I feel like one of Pavlov’s dogs. (j/k)

My $50 in points are now showing as pending in my account history. Actually I lucked out I got nearly $52 in points for some reason. I was worried because the $1 coupon 100% back showed up right away, but the other 100% transaction took 24 hours to show up. Now I can take the stuff out of the car. Don’t need to return it anymore.
-
I broke the bank and did the $250 points back deal at Sears. Haven’t had a dishwasher in a year and the one I wanted was marked down to $320, used $30 in points and will get the $250 back in points. Also did the Kmart deal, my mom picked out $50 worth of way overpriced stuff, but she was happy, especially since I paid. Spent my $10 in freecash too. That was about the only Black Friday shopping we did, other than stopping at JCP (at 2:30 pm) seeing the line and then leaving.
-
@briarycliffs Way to roll the dice briarycliffs!
As part of “Small Business Saturday”, I stopped by my local Sears store today and spent that $15 in-store-only Freecash on a few hand tools.Anbody notice the raft of Craftsman merchandise at Lowe’s stores recently? Not just the tool carts/chests, but also lots of hand tools, all packaged in solid bright red.
I’m guessing all the tools in “traditional” Craftsman packaging, mostly in red/black shading, will be orphaned and eventually clearanced out at Sears/Kmart.
-
YMNV - FREE $10 FREECASH in points with standard exclusions
In the Sweeps Weekly e-mail (I got mine early Sunday morning), there is a link to a spin game in which 1,000 lucky winners could win $5, but most people don’t win and then under that in the e-mail there is a link for a consolation prize of $10 in Freecash to either Sears or Kmart. It seems the consolation prize is better than winning the initial prize:
(YOU MUST CLICK ON THE LINK IN YOUR WEEKLY SWEEPS EMAIL TO GET THE FREE $10, CAN BE USED IN STORE OR ONLINE, SEARS OR KMART, EXPIRES SOON, on 11/30/18)$10 FREECASH in points
to redeem on your in store or online Sears or Kmart purchase. Includes clearance items.
Shop Your Way points granted in this offer that are not redeemed on or before their expiration date will expire on that date at 11:59 PM CST. Use and redemption of Shop Your Way points are subject to full Shop Your Way Terms and Conditions that are available at www.shopyourway.com/terms. Points can be applied at checkout upon purchase of qualifying item(s) meeting any specified purchase requirements. Limit one offer per transaction. Offer points cannot be used on Deals Flash Items, Food, Household Cleaning, Beauty and Health Care, Fragrances, Cosmetics, Office and School Supplies, Batteries, Party Supplies sold in the Greeting Card department, Books and Magazines, Pet Supplies, Prescriptions, Pharmacy, Alcohol, Tobacco, and items not sold by Sears or Kmart. Excludes Lands’ End® merchandise, Sears Hometown, Outlet, Appliance Showroom and Hardware stores. Excludes mygofer.com, landsend.com and Lands’ End® stores. Offer points cannot be combined with coupons. If you have multiple eligible offers on an item or transaction, the most valuable offer will be automatically applied. Offers cannot be combined with other points offers or discounts unless otherwise stated. Purchase requirement calculated before taxes and after other discounts have been applied and must be made in a single transaction. Offer is not transferable.
ALSO, if you haven’t done the Kmart $50/$50, today is the last day to do it. Points awarded on 11/27 and good through 12/3.
-
@mrvietnam The Free $10 in FC is targeted. Comes in the weekly Sweeps email. No email, no FC so YMMV vs. something everyone gets.
The $50/$50 Sears died on Friday night. It was Thurs & Fri, B&M only.
The $250/$250 Sears is still active.
The $50/$50 KM is still alive.

Cyber Monday deal. Members get 100% CASHBACK in points up to $25 in points at Sears.com. Points available 12/3-12/9. Max $25 in points and 1 time per member. Cannot be combined with other offers. Valid through November 26, 2018 11:59 PM CST
I think the “cannot be combined” means that if you buy $250 item you’ll get the $250 back as $25/wk but you will not get additional $25 back for Cyber Monday.
Note that this offer is up to meaning I don’t need a filler for my $24.99 item.
Also, do not make a $2 purchase prior to making $25 purchase or you risk MrV’s problem (see above).

What screwed it up was using a manufacturer’s coupon that the system treated as my spend on the offer. They made it right. All’s well that ends well.
Yes, now they are not allowing offers to combine. I bought mostly Smartsense stuff and there is another promo in which you get 25% back in points on a Smartsense purchase of $10 o more, but I didn’t get that 25% extra when I did the $50 back offer - although in the past it did combine but I think now they are becoming smarter and trying to cut the losses.
-
if you did the $50 back on $50 anything at Sears or KM, those pts expire on 12/3 and these pts become available on 12/3 so one day on which they’ll overlap.
-
Anybody do the Sears “Cyber Monday” $25 points back deal more than once?
Did it yesterday, and wondered if I tried again today, if those bonus points showed on the checkout page (they did). Not pulling the trigger quite yet though.Usually if I’ve already done an offer that is “1 time per member”, the system “knows” and I don’t see those bonus points again.
-
@ukedog I wouldn’t try it unless you don’t care if you don’t receive the points back.
-
$50 in points from Black Friday $50/$50 offer have posted.
-
Do we know what all the Marketplace points offers are this week? I think $40 back on $40 for Bestone, Topselling, Wondershopping, Exacme, Appliances Connection, and various jewelry vendors are all ending 12/1. Did I miss any?
(Of course, maybe nobody cares anyway because nobody else ever seems to do these Marketplace deals. I’ve done a lot of them over the months, and I actually really like them: the points credit reliably and relatively quickly (7 days, all in one installment), and many vendors don’t even charge sales tax. A minority of times, the vendor would ship me the wrong product or never ship me the product at all, but we all know that happens with Sears directly too. Either way, any time something’s gone wrong for me, contacting the vendor about it has usually corrected the problem; the two times that a vendor was unresponsive to me, I was able to get Sears to step in and refund me without much hassle. The majority of times, I get what I ordered at a fantastic price (due to the points back effectively making it “free” or heavily discounted), and this expands the product selection far beyond what Sears offers. Can’t pay with points of course, but GCs work fine, so I don’t view it as much different than doing a Sears/Kmart points offer, other than I can’t return the product in store, I guess…but I very rarely return stuff anyway.)
-
@lo Most interesting parenthetical remarks I’ve read in some time! I’ve stayed away from the Sears Marketplace points-back deals, but wondered if anybody has been taking regular advantage of them. I will say that SYW Customer Service has quickly fixed the few issues I’ve had over the years.
Ya gotta wonder though, with the inevitable demise looming, just how long you can expect stuff to keep happening as described.
-
I’ve heard that most of the Marketplace deals work but when I’ve looked for things I haven’t found anything I wanted that I couldn’t get elsewhere more easily. An example was the folding hand truck-- it was $40 get $40 back via a Marketplace seller but it was ~ $25 at Sears and I had FC to use so I went with Sears. I didn’t need a folding hand truck and its still sitting there unused… if I hadn’t tried to find something on the Marketplace sellers site I wouldn’t have bought another hand truck and would probably have used the FC to get more funds on my gc.
-
@my4mainecoons Some of the Marketplace sellers are just drop shippers who order the stuff directly from an Amazon Marketplace seller after you order from them via Sears…so many levels of commission going on here. But it just depends on what items you’re looking to buy. There are a lot of items I want that I have never been able to get from Sears, but of course they are on Amazon. I may have to pay a 20% upcharge to the Sears Marketplace seller to order the items for me from Amazon, but I get points back so it ends up cheaper than buying from Amazon, and I can pay with my Sears GCs that will likely soon become worthless anyway. It beats dropping real money on Amazon instead.
-
@lo You should do SwagBucks. You’d get lots of Amazon gc. @fivetalents loves Swagbucks and would be delighted to give you a referral code. I get my free Amazon gc by doing taste testing or use Rite Aid Bonus Cash to buy them for gifts.
-
@my4mainecoons I do Swagbucks, but $25 Visas are actually cheaper to redeem for than Amazon GC and can be used anywhere. I actually do have plenty of Amazon GC too, but I would still consider those to be much safer and more valuable than the Sears GC I want to find some way to spend.

FYI, Sears seems to have a deal going on for $10 back in points on $10 of anything for store pickup. I didn’t see it advertised anywhere (yet), nor have I tried the offer, but $10 points show up in my cart if I have anything $10+ set for store pickup.
-
@my4mainecoons I did the gift card deal at my Sears Hometown! It wasn’t as exciting, spent $49.99 in points, got a $22 gift card and a 58 piece set. It was the only one they had and was broken, but they are getting more in and I will pick up a new unbroken one next week.
I really wanted to get my nephew some uk (kentucky) clothes, it’s the closest major university to us and the one that most people root for here. Instead, our local Kmart has a bunch of team apparel of a hated rival and very few things of uk. Also, no Bengals stuff, no Titans stuff, only Steelers stuff. Also saw some Montana and Wyoming university tees, really? I searched online and found that most of the uk stuff available is 3 hours away, in Ohio, and is clearanced, imagine that.
-
@briarycliffs That’s great! It may not have been exciting but you have $22 gc which doesn’t expire. The $50/$50 BF pts all expire this weekend so I need to do a lot of transactions.

@lo Thanks Lo, I did that $10 points on Sears store-pickup deal, got the points immediately upon pickup, then spent them the same day.
Today with the new $30 points back on $30 purchase (already discussed here), I noticed this added bit when clicking on CASHBACK points:Get an instant $3 FREECASH in points when making a Sears or Kmart purchase and redeem any amount of your current points
-
Both the $25 KM and $30 Sears offers are “up to” deals so no fillers needed.
Nice that the $25/$25 and $30/$30 points don’t expire until 12/25. They’ll overlap with the 3rd installment of the October deals. Those points are due to post on 12/18.

Actually it depends on the $25/$25 deal you are talking about. The Kmart $25/$25 deal expires 7 days after points are awarded. I take it you are referring to the Sears’ deal.
-
@UkeDog Did you happen to notice the dates for the $3 back and if its B&M and/or online?
How did you place your orders so the system would know not to count your $10 purchase as your “up to $30 purchase”? Did you place the $30 order first?
-
@mrvietnam My bad. You’re right. I skimmed too quickly.
Did we already have this one? Ends today.
Members get $5 CASHBACK in points when you purchase $15 or more of any seasonal gifts/holiday candy sold by Kmart. Offer valid 11/11/18 - 12/1/2018. Points awarded next day and valid for 14 days. Max $50 per transaction. INSTORE and ONLINE. Points earned will be added to your Shop Your Way account and can be used on your next purchase. Only Shop Your Way members are eligible to earn or redeem points. Expiration dates vary.

@my4mainecoons Lol, what a tangled web these SYWR points offers turn out to be! Yes, I did the $10 purchase first, and then immediately spent those $10 in points (the 2-day expiration proved not to be a giant obstacle!)
As far as the $3 FreeCash thing, it shows “Expires 12/14/18”, with these additional details when I click for more:
FREECASH in points:
Limited-time offers we’ve created just for you. If your order qualifies for one, we’ll show it to you in cart. These offers expire within 1-14 days and are automatically applied first when you redeem Shop Your Way points on an order. While a FREECASH in points offer can be used with points, can’t be combined with Sears card offers, other FREECASH in points offer or certain coupons and promo codes.
-
@ukedog Maybe you did the $10/$10 offer before Dec. 1 which is when the $30/30 seems to have started. I’d be concerned about doing the $10/$10 first at this point. The system might think it was the “up to $30” offer.
-
There’s no additional $3 back. Those are just your $3 freecash you get each month from SYW Max.
-
@my4mainecoons said in SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread:
Not a discussion for this thread but Sears gc will probably still be valid at Hometown Stores.
I would be surprised if this becomes true. Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores is a completely different company at this point (and not doing so hot themselves either, for that matter). I imagine they simply have a deal with Sears Holdings where they get reimbursed for the GCs used with them. The Sears GCs are Sears Holdings debt.
When Sears Holdings spun off Lands End a few years ago, Lands End GCs stopped being usable at Sears, and Sears GCs stopped being usable at Lands End; prior to that, they had been interchangeable. Sears Holdings presumably maintained a deal that allowed SYWR points to continue to be accepted by Lands End for years later, which incidentally ceased just a few days before the bankruptcy filing.
If Sears Holdings liquidates, I would fully expect SHOS to stop accepting Sears GCs too. Which thread is better to discuss this in?
