SoFi savings 3.75%
Only with direct deposit right? I got this in email from them:
We raised the rate on SoFi Checking and Savings up to 3.75% APY for members with direct deposit. Simply set up direct deposit to earn 3.75% APY on your savings and Vaults balances (and 2.50% APY on checking balances)! As always, you can instantly transfer between your checking, savings and Vaults, all within the SoFi app.

MySavingsDirect MySavings Account now at 4.35% APY with $1 minimum initial deposit. Available nationwide.
How much hassle is getting 0.10% more interest over banks with 4.25% APY worth it? I only have one personal checking account with Alliant that pays virtually nothing. I would have to ACH money to that account from one of my external accounts paying 4.00% and wait for it to clear Then transfer from Alliant to MSD and wait another few days to clear. All the while losing a bunch of interest along the way. Why can’t MSD take your funds from savings or MMA accounts? Why must it be a personal checking account? It’s like they are putting up this barrier so people don’t actually open up an account.

OK I guess I’m the guinea pig. Just applied and it was the easiest I’ve ever experienced. Apparently the account is open and have linked the funding account immediately. Looks like they even have branches nearby.

Very interesting bank. In addition to the savings account, they also have two checking accounts. One is essentially the same as the savings. It pays 5.03%. The other pays 50 cents each time you use your debit card(except ATM transactions). There is no identified minimum transaction to get the 50 cents. They also refund ATM fees other banks charge. I wonder how long these rates are going to last.
-
Your mention of a 50 cent debit card rebate reminded me of Fidelity Bloom
Somewhat off topic (delete if so) but here’s the deal.
Open and deposit $25, get $50 bonus
Deposit $300 into Save, get 10% = $30
Then for a limited time they give you $1 per debit transaction > $10
Have to open via app. but then shows up with your other Fidelity accounts online.
All funds sit in SPAXX, with a current rate of 3.85%

I was wondering…for the free set of checks do you have to request them or are they ordered automatically?
The email said the debit card was ordered but no mention of the checks…
-
@craig10x
Used chat, was in queue for 2 hours with these results (my info edited out):
[07:06:17pm] Checks are not automatically ordered. They would need to be requested after the account is established
[07:10:37pm] Thank you! I can order the checks for you. Can you please let me know if you want singles or duplicates and then can you verify the mailing address.
[07:13:07pm] Wonderful! I’ll get them ordered for you. They will take up to 2 weeks to receive.
