Well, based on all the updates about contacting CS about the points discrepancies, I called too and got my credits issued.

GC offer isn’t in my ad and no kiosk signs. No 10x for Zift cards offer advertised either.
I bought no fee MC gc’s to get the free with purchase Post It notes at Staples using 5% back Chase Ink.
Then used the MC gc at Shaw’s to see what happened if bought $50 Zift.
Received the $10/$10 and 4x points (200 points).

The 10x J4U offer on Zift cards expired yesterday for me (Jewel in Chicago, sales period is W - Tues).

Just bought a $50 Zift card. The $10 coupon printed on the receipt as expected. However:

I got only 400 rewards points. This means that only the 10x J4U offer applied (no additional 4x or 2x) and the system accounted for the $10 coupon and deducted it in calculating the points, considering it as a net $40 purchase.

If your transaction experience is different, post accordingly.

How do you figure the 10x applied if 10x on $50 is 500 points? isn’t it 1 point per dollar x 10 =50 per dollar. should be 500, no?

It seems the value of the $10 coupon is deducted, effectively making it like a $40 purchase. This is the only way it makes any sense. If you or anyone else gets a different result, be sure to comment.

Is this confirmed fact or speculation on your part @yoregano ? Still doesn’t make much sense as I don’t think the system would know because this 10x offer started before the $10/50 coupon print out. and it’s not like you got an instant $10 savings on the GC. You still spent $50 for it, so I’m going to call C/S on Monday and see what they say.

I can’t know anything for certain. It could be a system error, it could be what I suggested it was. Yeah, let us know what CS says if you call them. Did you buy a card and get the same result?

I did find Zift cards with the Amazon option and bought and redeemed three today. The first two went without a hitch, but the third order wouldn’t process on the site, giving me an explanation that they couldn’t verify my information. Thankfully, no problems with the actual card info/value, and I ended up changing the email I used and was able to then redeem without a problem.

So perhaps that is their way of trying to limit potential fraud, I guess.

I’m finding the 503/connection errors/failure to load, etc. problems have increased in frequency the last several days, at any time of the day. I’m encountering issues pretty much every day.

Yes, this was mainly about clarification, not surprise, though deducting points for the coupon was a bummer. I’m sure sonofzeus will be outraged whatever the case. 🤪
