@fivetalents Thanks fivetalents. Buying gift cards online is getting to be an adventure these days. I tried to order two of these from PayPal, using my charge card for payment, but they removed that payment option. So I removed one, and found I could then pay that way. And recent Newegg sales of gift cards don’t offer a PayPal option (I don’t trust them with my CC info).

And don’t even get me started on giftcards.kroger.com (aka GiftCardMall aka Blackhawk Networks). I discovered I wasn’t alone after reading other user reviews on that outfit!

@mrvietnam Heads up (and YMMV), but while I do see the $5 in my PayPal “wallet” after following this link, it apparently keeps me from buying the recent PayPal Digital Gift cards for Lowe’s ($50 for $45) or Home Depot ($110 for $100) while it’s sitting there. Kind of a circular effect trying to order, logging back in then seeing the unable to order msg.

Again, this might be just me. But I suspect if I use that $5 on some other non-gift-card order first, I wouldn’t have any issues ordering a gift card.

Found this on that “other” popular deal site. Hyper Tough is Walmart’s budget house brand. I’ve found the few Hyper Tough tools I’ve bought on clearance from Walmart have been generally good, including a couple of drills. This set even comes with 2 batteries (1.5Ah).

Apparently a few stores have had so many that they reduced it down to $25, which is crazy!

Another unusual thing is that unlike most clearance items (available for store pickup only), Walmart lets you order this online for store pickup, which means you could use a cashback site to save a little more, possibly. Again, YMMV.

@fivetalents Upon checkout (for one) I found that using PayPal for payment was not available, at least not for me.
I know I’ve used PayPal before with them for these, so that’s a change…

You may have never heard of them (I hadn’t until a few months ago), but they have an immense collection of hardware for cabinets, doors, and so on, as well as variety of of other craft related items. And likely for less $ than you can find anywhere as well!

@my4mainecoons I’d still be playing if there were any Sears (or Kmart) stores left near me, and even the closest ones (50mi+) are slated to close down.

Just a note about this specific drill/driver set, apparently it’s not “battery compatible” with all the previous Craftsman/B&D 20Vmax tools, at least according to some reviews.
And I say that as a big fan of the B&D 20Vmax line, having lots of shop tools as well as outdoor tools that all use the same 20V li-ion batteries. Plus also (with a minor mod) Porter-Cable 20Vmax batteries as well, and vice versa.

@kohlspowrshopper They’ve offered this for a while now, as my 4-month free trial just ended. It’s great, I’ll miss it (I’m just too cheap to pay that much)!

@geezlouise I think sometimes prices vary depending on whether you’ve logged in, and possibly what “spend level” you’re at after that.
I do see “Business Exclusive Price” along with that $1.69 price, even though I don’t have a business account (or card) with them. I did pay for a “Plus” rewards membership however, back a couple of months ago when they had that on sale for $25…

@my4mainecoons You likely got the PayPal not accepted idea from me, as that’s where I’m at with my account with Sears or Kmart, even though I’m a “VIP Gold, Max Annual” SYW member. Glad that you can still order using PayPal.

The last two orders I was trying to pay only for shipping, using accumulated SYWR points to pay for the actual items. That might have something to do with it, dunno. Even more likely is that I no longer have a valid credit card associated with my Sears/Kmart account–and that ain’t gonna change!

Btw I ended up using the Sears chat mechanism to complain about not being able to order those times (paying only for shipping), and their customer service generously ordered on my behalf, waving the shipping charge! As nice as that was, I’d rather not spend the time going to the well each time assuming this would happen again…

I think the strange, sad, saga of Sears (and Kmart) is drawing near a close now. It’s been a great ride for deals for me though!

Abtw those heavy extension cords are ideal for using with an emergency generator when your load to be powered is pretty far away. Less voltage drop, etc.

Unfortunately I don’t see the usual filter on the left panel for which have available “Shipping”, and many of these are only available for Sears store pickup (none left near me, sadly).
However, imo some are even worth it even paying for shipping, especially if you have SYWR points to burn towards the item cost.

In my case, this 50ft 12-3 extension cord for $15 seems like a good deal

@midori Congrats! It is a crazy good price. It seems like only a couple of years ago, they ran about $15 each.
Btw I see some reported dimming issues with these particular bulbs, but I don’t dim (more like I am dim!).

@ctcarl I love that it comes in “Frustration-Free Packaging” (at least the lowest cost one). Whereas the “Standard Packaging” is 3 times the price!

Anybody else? I’ve noticed Sears and Kmart gift cards have disappeared from places like Kroger, Lowe’s, and Staples, and even finding them online is tricky. For example Kroger still has the web page for Sears gift cards, but has marked them “Closed” (like so many of the actual Sears stores, har).

Well, Raise still lists them, but I’m not too sure about doing business with them. And besides, they don’t take PayPal…

Which brings me back to my original problem with trying to order online with either Sears or Kmart (burning SYWR points): the order won’t complete when trying to use PayPal.
Even after I’ve been automatically switched to PayPal to complete it, when that part finishes and I’m returned to Sears or Kmart to review the order, I’m prompted to enter a credit card (and that ain’t gonna happen).

I’ve used PayPal plenty of times in the past.

UPDATE 8/31/2019: They keep dropping like flies. This time, as of yet, no nice clean list of stores to be closed from corporate like before.
Yet it’s reported nearly 100 more Kmart and Sears stores will be closed before the end of the year.

Namely, AB-1373 and possibly AB-1381. The first one is ambiguous with “Anheuser-Busch Craft Brands” (like I’m supposed to know).
I googled this bit, and evidently Devils Backbone brews qualify. Nuff said!

Btw when it comes to beer rebates, it seems NY is the place to live!

EDIT 9/10: Kroger had 15-packs of DB Vienna Lager on sale this week for $13.99.
So my rebate is in, I’m enjoying this brew more (and for far less) than my normal swill–thanks Cliffs!
