@briarycliffs I admit to be intrigued by the idea of a Martha Stewart hori-hori knife! As in a future collector’s item, for example.
I wonder if her past incarceration experience factors in with this product endorsement?Btw I just got an email from topcashback.com promising a $5 extra cash back bonus for any purchase $15 or over. Sears is not on the excluded merchants list either…

RE: Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp 1.7-Liter Stainless Steel Cordless Electric Kettle $51.04 + FSSS/Prime @ Amazon.com & Walmart.composted in Expired Deals
@fivetalents Thanks for understanding 5talents, and I did review it on Amazon. It’s somewhere in the sea of 1-star reviews for that particular Cuisinart appliance.
Maybe were all just unlucky recipients of a faulty mfgr run, while others lucked out. However, there is no reasonable explanation for the Cuisinart warranty/customer service struggle.
Btw I’m running with you 4coons on the complexity factor for making hot water. Our speedy no-name unit has a simple press-down-for-on switch that auto-popups-up when done. It does have a Light-Emitting-Diode in the switch though, lol. -
RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Threadposted in Hot Deals
@my4mainecoons Interesting spin on this collection of tools, all priced at $25 even, with many looked to be marked up from the normal sale price. Unlike most previous 100%-points-back on x$ offers , this actually does seem to be limited to just these specific tools. I did spot one or two others that also qualify, like a Worx leaf collection gadget. But not much else of interest to me at the moment. I was hoping the offer applied to $25+ worth of tools, in general, like in similar past offers.

RE: Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp 1.7-Liter Stainless Steel Cordless Electric Kettle $51.04 + FSSS/Prime @ Amazon.com & Walmart.composted in Expired Deals
@fivetalents I don’t mean to be mean about this deal, but the Cuisinart brand has lost its luster in our house. This after trying to get warranty service from them on a combo coffee maker/hot water dispenser that broke less than 9 months in (the hot water side). It took months of phone calls and several broken promises before they got off the mark and finally sent us a refurbished replacement. So I’d take that “limited 3-year warranty” with a big grain of salt.
On the plus side, this has lots of cool bells and whistles. But on the minus side, note the same thing–as any of them can break!
You have to ask yourself, do I really need all these features? We found that Amazon sells a lot of low-cost cordless electric kettles, and picked out a “no name” one about the same size that has an all stainless steel interior without a water window (no plastic inside) and it has worked perfectly many times a day. Much better/faster than the broken side of our Cuisinart combo unit, for sure!
I’ll probably regret posting this. It’s just a reaction to that last bullet item in the description, lol.

Aug 31 UPDATE to PSA: Yet more Sears and Kmart stores closing (yet again)posted in Deal Discussion
UPDATE 8/31/2019: They keep dropping like flies. This time, as of yet, no nice clean list of stores to be closed from corporate like before.
Yet it’s reported nearly 100 more Kmart and Sears stores will be closed before the end of the year.

Both my local Sears and Kmart stores already closed, but this could affect others who are burning SYWR points.

RE: Donald Durhams 1-Pound Rockhard Water Putty $1.96 + FS w/Prime @ Amazonposted in Hot Deals
I’ll joke about bidet toilet seats, but I draw the line joking about this stuff–it’s great!
I’ve used it for years making all kinds of repairs, and haven’t found anything as good. And yes, it dries “rock hard”. My last use was patching some chipped out areas in a friend’s plaster wall. You can also use it as a art/craft medium, say in molds to make 3D pins, etc. Mix up only what you need, and the rest never goes bad.Now about the “deal” factor, you typically can find it this cheap at a Home Depot store. But if you have Amazon prime, you get it delivered to you, plus can get the $1 digital credit for no-rush shipping.

RE: Turtle Wax T-240KT Headlight Lens Restorer Kit $5.12 + FSSS/Prime @ Amazon.com (and Target & Walmart + FS on $35+/Pickup)posted in Expired Deals
Driving an 18 year old car, I’ve learned this headlight-lens-restoration-biz is a sweet little moneymaker for some garages, especially ones that perform state inspections of cars, and can fail you for clouded headlights. Where they charge you $60 or even more for each lens, holding your car hostage for ransom.
When this happened to me the first time a few years ago, I told them to go ahead and fail it, getting a rejection sticker. I researched it and got a similar kit (possibly even this same one), and did both lenses myself in an hour or so. Then I took it back, got reinspected/approved and got my inspection sticker. Thinking back, I wish I had done this bit of work in their parking lot, lol.
Anyway, I know now to break out this kit and do a little lens de-clouding each year before I go in for a state inspection. Added to the usual pre-inspection checks on stuff like light bulbs and wipers etc.
And there’s tons of stuff on youtube.com about headlight lens restorations too, including an “all-you-need-is-toothpaste” contingent!

RE: Staples PLUS Membership on sale for $15 (reg. $49)posted in Expired Deals
@my4mainecoons Well it’s that “new trick” thing, actually. I’m contemplating hopping onto the Stapling ink-rewards train now.
My chief concerns are:- Ponying up $30.19 for a Brother inkjet cartridge that I would normally pay $3 for the equivalent generic one.
- Having the nerve to coolly bring in to my local Staples store, each month, 20 assorted ink cartridges to “recycle” (wink, wink).
- Staples canceling or otherwise minimizing the 20 x $2/mo. recycle program, say right after my eBay-bought jumbo box of empties arrives.

RE: BOGO for $0.50 Egg McMuffin, $1 Coffee, $3 off $15 & more via McDonald's App thru Jul 28posted in Expired Deals
About a year ago, using the McDonalds app, you could buy a premium sandwich for a $1, for example the “Grilled Artisan Chicken” sandwich, among others. Also some other great deals through the app. That lasted a couple of months. Then they started whittling down on offers, with a $1 McDouble being one of the last notable ones. Maybe a month more of that, and then the “deals” started to resemble these ones. I uninstalled the app months ago, and don’t see a reason to reinstall here.

@mistercheap It didn’t work for me either, but I got a pretty straightforward response trying the redemption code:

I’m pretty sure if you don’t see this offer going to your “My eBay” page, you’re out of luck, i.e. it’s “targeted”. -

I bit on this deal, more for the free shipping/no minimum than anything else…not being a regular ink cartridge recycler.
In case anybody’s still looking, I’m curious what my fellow Plus members think are good money-saving picks for the “5 custom items” that you can specify to buy at “best in market pricing”?
Hopefully it’s not more printer paper–I’m all set for that for the next 2 years!
Edit: I’m putting it together now…you guys buy bulk loads of empty cartridges on eBay, then bring em into a Staples store for the rewards, lol. I have so much to learn, in my grasshopper way!

RE: Amazon Prime: Spend $10 at Whole Foods from 7/3-7/16 and get $10 Amazon creditposted in Expired Deals
I bit on this deal, although I usually don’t darken the doorway at Whole Foods (I’m more of a Kroger type). I found out it wasn’t quite as simple as it’s being promoted.
Even though I’ve had Amazon Prime for two years, and I’ve had my cell phone number linked to my Amazon account, the Whole Foods cashier could not “find me” using that phone number. Nor could their customer service. I did have that phone with me too.
I was told I could use either the Amazon app or Whole Foods app on my cell phone to get to what they need. Neither app was installed (nor will they be). I’m not into the app-commerce thing, in general.
Then they said I could log into Amazon on my cell phone, and once logged in, access the Whole Foods area. So I did that from a browser on my phone, and when I accessed “Whole Foods” from Amazon home screen, up popped a scannable QR “Whole Foods code”, which is evidently what they needed. Right above it it says: “Prime members: Scan at Whole Foods Market to save”.
I made and saved a screen capture of that QR code in case I decide to shop again at Whole Foods (guessing it’s static).
Oh yeah, and then did a “Clear Browsing Data” -

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Threadposted in Hot Deals
About 2 weeks ago, Sears canceled my order that I paid for using only points (but was out-of-pocket $4.50 for economy shipping), saying the item was “out of stock”, and still have not refunded me the $18.50 in points. They did credit the shipping charge back after 3 days.
The frustrating part is that item has remained available (including for shipping) since my original order. Plus they’ve sent me emails showing that item with “don’t you want this?” verbiage and so on. Evidently there are some items that you can’t get by paying with just points!
I’ve contacted SYW customer service at info@shopyourway.com asking what’s up with that? They replied it takes 7-10 days for points to be refunded.
Just curious if any other folks paying with all points have run into “out-of-stock” problems?
i.e. participated in some of the mega-points-payouts ($300 @$15 x 20, $500 @$20 x 25)UPDATE, 7/5: SYW finally came through and credited back the points. Made another order using 100% points for a $23 item (shop vac filter). Now I’m waiting to see if that mysteriously goes out-of-stock…

@briarycliffs Additionally, the SYWR points system seems to have been down since Tuesday (6/25). Both websites for Sears and Kmart were posting a banner on the home page saying that SYW Points and the Delivery Schedule were temporarily down, but would be back soon.
However, now the banner is changed to say this only for the Delivery Schedule. Is this the final chapter for SYWR points?

RE: NYT Crossword puzzles subscription, 1 year for $19.97, YMMVposted in Hot Deals
@my4mainecoons It’s full access to all NYT puzzles, including the daily crossword and mini crossword (7 of each every week), plus scads of other puzzles, logic, spelling, and so on. Not even familiar with all those other puzzles/games.

The magic part is the great NYT crossword app on my iPad, primarily. It’s also usable on my cell phone in a pinch. I’m a luddite in many ways, but I’ll likely not go back to paper and pencil here!

NYT Crossword puzzles subscription, 1 year for $19.97, YMMVposted in Hot Deals
I realize this may not be a hot deal to many, but a New York Times crosswords subscription is currently “on sale” at the half price of $19.97 a year. At least it was for me after my free 6 month “basic digital access” NYT subscription expired–which did NOT include the daily crosswords btw. And I’m not renewing/paying for NYT basic news.
However, my now-expired basic digital subscription did allow me access to 3 or 4 “archived” crossword puzzles each week. That’s where I found out how elegant the online NYT crossword app is on a tablet or cell phone. Much better than the WSJ crossword app, for example. So I gladly forked over the $20 for this NYT puzzles-only access today.
Here’s the link to the NYT crossword subscriptions.

If you see it costing $39.95/Yr., call 855-698-8545 and ask for the half-off sale price! -
