RE: Bing search Microsoft Rewards promotionposted in Expired CSG Deals
@ctujackbauer There’s a pretty long thread on another popular deal site that explains how to get those 500 bonus points from installing the Bing mobile app, where evidently you have to scan the QR code in your email invitation from Microsoft, and then somewhere in the installation process wait for some popup, or some such. It sounds too involved and I didn’t want to bother uninstalling/reinstalling a regularly used app for so few points. But it seems lots of folks are in the same boat, with some successfully getting the 500 points, and others not.

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Threadposted in Hot Deals
@sportsfan64 If I only had a nearby Kmart or Sears store to burn points at! Our local Kmart store shut down over a year ago, and our local Sears store is in the final stage of closing–not much left there, and no store pickup possible.
Plus for online sales, they no longer accept points to pay towards shipping. So I’m out of pocket for that on any online order.
Hmm. Do I sound a tad spoiled? I guess I am–those glory days of carloads of free stuff at Kmart while outfitting a woodworking shop at Sears are clearly over!

RE: Bing search Microsoft Rewards promotionposted in Expired CSG Deals
@fatwking I occasionally use DuckDuckGo, and would probably do so more if I was in a witness protection program or had a high security profile somewhere. I just use Bing for the rewards (it’s my home page, but I only use it a few minutes each morning).
At this point Microsoft should be aware that I like quickly flashing up news briefs, movie cast members, and dig Amazon gift cards. Beyond that, not so much–well, at least from Bing.
I too value privacy, and don’t participate in social media stuff like Facebook, Twitter, and so on. Never have! Oh well. And I’m more humored than bothered by “targeted” ads that pop for me thanks to prior Google searches.

RE: Bing search Microsoft Rewards promotionposted in Expired CSG Deals
@dionaea Ya, I’ve been in on this for about a year too. As you mentioned, I see it’s not really double the normal daily PC search points of 200, but an increase to 300 points…still good though.
Abtw, you do NOT need to use Microsoft Edge for your PC searches–I use Firefox for my main browser, and Bing and Microsoft Rewards are totally cool with that. However, you can get an additional 20 points a day for using Edge and doing a few searches.
I don’t bother with Edge though, and can’t actually on my Windows 7 PC. I also don’t earn points by buying stuff from Microsoft. I am much happier with them paying me, rather than the reverse!

Bing search Microsoft Rewards promotionposted in Expired CSG Deals
Heads up for Bing search users with a Microsoft account, starting today and until Feb 20, you can earn up to 300 Microsoft Rewards points daily (normal max is 200) via Bing search from a PC (5 points per search). Plus other rewards points from the Microsoft Rewards page. Also, you can download the Bing mobile app to get additional points on Bing searches, normal is up to 100 points daily. I think you can also get a 500 points bonus for downloading the Bing mobile app if you don’t already have it.
There are various ways to cash out Microsoft Rewards points, but my fav is just to go for the $5 Amazon Gift Card, which requires 5,250 accumulated points. I get one about every 3 weeks just doing a few minutes of Bing searches daily (news items), the few activities on the rewards page, and some Bing mobile searches. On the latter, selecting Movies, a movie, then Cast, is a speedy search method.
Btw I realize that some will be too busy to bother with any of this, but it’s there if you have the time.
I’m cashing out once tomorrow, and with this double rewards bit, I guesstimate again in another 9 days.

RE: Kroger Launches New Online Grocery Delivery Service + Subscription Option NOW NATIONWIDE With 15% Off (Stacks With Coupons/Sales)+ FS, No Minimum ACposted in Hot Deals
I know it’s been a while since this was posted, but I wanted to comment what a good deal it seemed to be for me–at least on my first order last week. In my case, I wanted to take advantage of the free shipping with no minimum on this first “tryout”.
So I ordered 5 boxes of Hodgson Mills Oat Bran cereal, which has been “temporarily unavailable” at all my local Kroger stores for the last couple of weeks. It was on sale for $2.00 a box, vs. $2.59 normal price in-store. While nosing around on the Kroger Ship site, I noticed Kroger’s 13-gallon trash bags at a good price: $8.99 for 120, vs. $9.99 for the same in-store. So I got one of those and completed my order. No shipping charge and 15% taken off–sweet!
The kicker was, I made this ~$16 order on Friday morning, got an email from FedEx shipping in the evening to expect it by Monday, but there was the Kroger box sitting on my doorstep on Saturday afternoon! Everything well packed too. Look out Amazon Prime Pantry!
NOTE: Item prices on the Kroger Ship site often vary from the normal Kroger shop site (say for ClickList pickup), often being higher but some also lower, as I found. I suspect that different Kroger coupons are in play here too, just not sure.
I do know that if I decided to get the Hodgson Mills Oat Bran cereal from Amazon, it would have cost me almost as much for only two boxes with Prime shipping, that is $14.99 plus tax. It pays to look around!

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Threadposted in Hot Deals
@lo This last offer would make sense if you had a healthy Kmart store nearby, such that you could use the points on normal household supplies or grocery items (assuming there is such a thing as healthy Kmart store), and you were a gambler at heart. Otherwise, not so much.

Has Sears stopped taking PayPal for online orders?posted in Deal Discussion
Just wondering if anyone else ran across this, or if it’s just because I was paying for an order using SYWR points for the merchandise itself, but they wouldn’t apply to the shipping (order well under $59). I was going to use PayPal for the shipping, but it doesn’t appear as a payment option…
I used to use free store pickup, but my local store is closing down and it’s no longer an option.

Lowe's "Deal Of The Day" has hit a new level of sillinessposted in Deal Discussion
Home Depot often has worthwhile “Special Buy Of the Day” items, whereas Lowe’s “Deal Of the Day” typically looks like one randomly chosen item at a modest discount. Today (1/28/2019) it is a Lincoln Electric Auto Darkening Camo Variable Shade Brown Welding Helmet for $59, down from $89.
So, if you need a solar-powered camouflaged welding helmet (and who doesn’t?), you can save a cool $30!
While supplies last, of course. -

@briarycliffs 190+ sounds like a really high total score, more of an NBA thing than NCAA thing…so I checked past year’s championship game scores. Sure enough, nothing that high, ever. Closest were years 1978 (182), 1964 (181), 1975 (177), 1990 (176)

@ctgolfer Bosch makes top-notch power tools, but I’ve found their bits aren’t so hot (YMMV).
Another set to consider at Lowe’s is a Kobalt 43-piece set, designed for “speed fit” chucks. The quality of these bits is surprisingly good. I’m seeing it for $7.18 at stores near me, at least those that still have it. Brickseek

-
RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Threadposted in Hot Deals
Well at my local Sears store they accepted my SYWR points today, and even awarded points!
But it was only the first day of the actual liquidation, with yellow % signs at 10% for most stuff.
So no telling how long that will last. -
RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Threadposted in Hot Deals
@mrvietnam So can you use still use your points at that closing Sears store?
I figure once the professional liquidators take over (screaming yellow % off signs), it will be cash or charge only. Basically the end of any real deals, too. My local Sears is scheduled to close sometime in March, but hasn’t entered that final phase yet.
Uping the free shipping threshold from $35 to $59 puts a crimp in the online thing, plus as briarycliff noted points won’t even count towards that starting in February. I suspect that stings anybody that went for the $400 points back over 12mo deal, etc

Amazon: ELEGIANT Bluetooth Transmitter/Receiver, V4.1 w/aptX, USB powered, includes optical & wired cables, $10.99 Primeposted in Expired Deals
ELEGIANT Bluetooth Transmitter/Receiver, V4.1 w/aptX, USB powered, includes optical & wired cables, $10.99
Works great for me as transmitter from a Hisense HDTV to cheap Nakamichi bluetooth headphones (TV does not have built-in bluetooth). I’m using the included USB cable to power it from the TV, and the included TOSLINK cable between the device and the digital audio output on the TV.
No lag! Just what I was looking for, as I can easily toggle the TV speakers on/off separately via setup from the TV remote, without affecting the digital audio output. It also includes a 3.5mm audio cable and an RCA audio cable, neither of which I’m using. The accompanying little user guide, as is typical, is written in Engrish, and is a little hard to follow…
I might be lucky, but it was also no problem pairing to the Nakamichi headphones!

Thanks to all who replied. Craigslist was a good idea, but just not now, at least in my area.
I already spent the few Staples and OD rewards I had.
$30 a case/$3.00 a ream still seems too high somehow, and the current OD deal is even worse (for only 2 reams yet).I did find some old deal postings about Hammermill Copy Paper, which evidently has been discontinued for Hammermill Copy Plus Paper.
I snagged a few reams at my local Walmart for $1.00 each. Couldn’t find cases of it though, which go for $9.00 if you can find them. For anybody else interested, here are Brickseek inventory links to Hammermill Copy Paper at Walmart:

Now I guess I regret not amassing a garage stacked full of cases of copy paper, courtesy of Staples or Office Depot. It seemed unnecessary at the time… oh well.
I’m down to my last ream of Boise X-9 copy paper from an Office Depot deal back in April, which yielded an Office Depot $40 gift card. I really miss those Staples copy paper rebate deals!
