I have stopped buying the “real” chicken items (grilled or fried) because I find that the chicken is not cooked evenly/thoroughly. When the piece of chicken is thin, then it is fully cooked throughout. However, when the piece of chicken is not of uniform thickness, the thick parts are not “white”.
Don’t know about you, but I don’t like “pinkish” chicken.

Tried this out today…Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich and a soda for two bucks. w00t!
The only issue I ran into is that the app is very permission-greedy, and I don’t want McDonalds (or anyone else, for that matter) knowing precisely where I am every minute of every day.
I disabled Location Services for the app and picked the restaurant location manually, and it seemed to work, gave me an order #, etc. But since it never “saw” me arrive, it never released my order to the restaurant, and they couldn’t pull it up.
I finally enabled Location and the app said “Oh, you’re here!” and released my order. Long story short, you can disable other permissions…to keep Ronald’s red nose out of your address book, for example…but unless you enable Location Services, “no soup for you!”

they are trying hard to get folks to taste the “new” recipe. I think the 'fresh 1/4 pounders are 1000% better then before.

I absolutely agree, and I am regularly astounded at how much privacy folks are willing to give up for such small rewards.
That said, this is potentially a substantial savings over the lifetime of the deal.
FWIW, I don’t plan on giving Mickey D very much useful spy info at all. I installed it on a spare phone that has data service (but not even an active number), disabled all permissions through AppOps, I’ll only enable internet access through my firewall as needed, and location services when picking up food, and I signed up using a temporary email account, so, good luck browsing my social media accounts, my contact lists, and my photos, fellas.

why are people paranoid? .I don’t really care if they “spy” on me. What useless info will they glean from me? Come on people… You mean they could learn that I am a manufactured spender? Big deal. I do all my banking and biz on my home desktop that has Avast and Premium Malware bytes. No problems in 3.5 years. And I use the BK app also…but not till the 1.00 MCD sandwich and coffee deals end. I’m using my 8 year old laptop now that is flawless…its i3…win 10 (upgraded last year) 24 ram. 16.9 brightview monitor and it is still fast on xfinity network. Happy with it. And if it fries tomorrow I got great use out of it.

Quarter pounder is totally worth it for $1. I haven’t tried a QPC in 15 years because the frozen version was between mediocre and bad.
This is still not as good as a Whopper or Wendy’s burger. But it’s close. And it’s $1. Most people will be happy to save $2 or so from buying elsewhere.
Note that a QPC is 510 calories so those of us trying to lose weight will need to keep that in mind.

Agree with you about the buttermilk chicken sandwich. I would compare it quite favorably to a Chick-fil-A sandwich. And for a dollar, I can actually afford it! After five days of the buttermilk chicken, I decided to go off book and try a QPC. It was fine, but I think tomorrow I’m back to the buttermilk chicken.
I’m in the “I don’t really give a rip what McDonald’s knows about me and my habits” if they’re going to keep feeding me lunch for a buck.

@cpaynter should have stuck with the 1/4 pounder. The big mac still sucks and they are using the frozen stuff. Stick with the 1/4 lb and chicken. BTW Im a big ice tea drinker and the McD ice tea is the worst I have ever tasted. Tastes like urine!!! or what I think urine would taste like. Tried it 2x this week for the 1.00. Dont know what they are using.Disaster. I spilled it out and refilled with diet coke.

While it had a pretty good piece of chicken on it, the sandwich was smaller than I thought.a $5 sandwich would be, but perhaps all their sandwiches are on the small side. It has been a long time since I have been a McD’s regular. For health reasons, I’m more a Souplantation guy these days. I really like their soups and salads. I usually stock up on gift cards for the entire year when they have their buy a $50 gift card, get 2 free meal passes offer right before Christmas.

@ctgolfer I’m seeing concern here about undercooked chicken, but IMO the biggest risk is actually lettuce—romaine included (recent national news item). Just today a new story about McDonalds salads.

Not for anything, but for anyone with concerns about romaine, you can click on “Customize”, and substitute “Shredded Lettuce”, which is Iceberg, at no cost.

All right, so I’ve tried the double filet-o-fish and the buttermilk chicken sandwich as well.
All 3 items (including QPC) can be summed as:
- Waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than I remember them tasting 20 years ago
- Still not as good as BK/Wendy’s/5 Guys/whatever
- Still waaaaaaaaaay cheaper than the alternatives, so guess where I’m eating until September 30th rolls around
I’ll try to hit all the majors on their menu. If one is particularly good, I’ll give a heads up.
My wife was told that the chicken sandwich was almost as good as CFA. Her rating: Pretty good, but not in the same stratosphere as CFA.
But (note the theme) for $1 she’ll be eating it again.

Got the quarter with cheese tonight, and thought it was barely worth the dollar.

Used this on 2 accounts today. I think adding the pickle to the filet-of-fish made them make a fresh one (although it was still ready way too fast). I did get screwed over the first time because I didn’t realize there was a double filet of fish and ordered a regular one
There’s also $1 McDouble in the app. You can use it to make a poor man’s big mac if you wanted a second sandwich and didn’t feel like creating a new account.

i used mine on Tues and today. if you use the kiosk to order the 1/4 lb you can customize. Add onion/shredded lettice for free. Tomato slices are .5cents in my Mcd on Third ave and 33 st in Manhattan. Plus the 1.00 large coke. Some folks refill the cup after eating and drinking and take it out of the store…not me. Customization works on Artisan chicken and on the Mcdouble too!!

in upstate NY the 1.00 sandwich is gone. Now its 2.00 and only 1x per week. It comes back actually 5 days later. Also the 1.00 Mcdouble and large coffee still available every day. If i order a Mcdouble i use the kiosk and add tomato…my local Mcd, is 5 cents for this… plus extra onions/leaf lettuce/shredded lettuce. 1.05 plus tax. Sandwich is about 3" high. And the 1.00 coke plus a refill for the road…haha at self service soda fountain.
