I wonder if I’ll get my $2 from RMN.
-
Hoffman Estates, Illinois-based Sears (Nasdaq: SHLD), is expected to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy on Sunday, reported the The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter.
As part of the bankruptcy deal, the retailer’s lenders, which include Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC), Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC), and Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C), would provide emergency financing of up to $500 million.
That lifeline, coming ahead of a Monday deadline to repay $134 million in loans, would allow Sears to continue operating.
Exactly how many of the company’s 700 or so Sears and Kmart stores will be closed is still being negotiated. However, sources told the Journal that about 150 stores will close immediately, while another 250 stores will be under evaluation and 300 stores will stay open.

Just in case… last night I used all of my $175.00 in points on tool sets for XMAS gifts. 2 separate orders using $20.00 coupons. I have $108 in points from previous deals being issued in the next 17 days, and quite a bit spread out over the next 11 months. My fingers are crossed that I’ll be able to use them all.
TopCashBack stopped offering cashback at Sears on Thursday or Friday. I don’t know if it’s temporary.
In case you were not aware, you can see future points dispursements through the end of this year. Login to SYWR. Locate the “You earned $ in pts this month” tab and click the “see all my points”. Change the “see orders from” to 2018.
I’ve been a Sears Addict for decades. Rumors of their demise have been rampant for several years now. I will miss Sears if/when it finally goes away. My local store will close in November. The Auto Center closed 2 weeks ago. I was their very last customer. 4 RoadHandler tires, online offer of BOGO free, on sale nearly 1/2 price already, plus the $300 back in points over 12 months. Too good to pass up. I’ll keep riding it out til the bitter end.
PS, Everyone I know has a Nakamichi Bluetooth speaker, and at least 1 pair of Nakamichi headphones. XMAS was cheap that year.
Good Luck!!

Such a sad situation. My wife blames Amazon. I blame Lampert.

@myisland agree on Lampert, lots of this was ponzi scheme nonsense. raped the company IMO.

Same thing happened to me. I suspect it’s because the article was first opened using the direct (i.e. paywall active) link. If you clear your browser cookies, the paywall bypassing link will likely work in a normal browser session too.

We’re safe for now!!!
I did the following this past weekend to spend down my Sears gc:
$75/$75 appliances
$75/$75 lawn & garden
$60/$60 home
$15/$15 clothing
$75/$75 KmartReceived the first installments automatically with exception of KM. Had to call to get those posted due to my order status not changing from In Process to Picked Up and evidently they can’t change it so I might have to call again in 35 days. Already used most of the $110 in pts earned by converting some back to gc (~$50 put back onto gc) and miscellaneous stuff such as 2 stage fuel, ice melt, water softener salt, etc. Ran out of time so unable to check to see if KM had restocked on Mobil One 5 qt 0W-20.

So they will stack with 2nd installment of this offer.
-
Thanks for sharing, but do you think doing point offers now that pay in installments is a smart move given the company is bankrupt? With that said I think they are trying to stay open at least through the holidays, so maybe you probably have a decent chance of getting the 11/18 installment. I think I’ll pass though.

Spend $75 or more on a qualifying purchase at Kmart.com and get $75 cashback in points total in three installments. Points issued in 3 equal installments of $25 each are only valid for 14 days of issuance. First installment of points credited to account 24 hrs after transaction and valid for 14 days. Second installment of points credited to account on 11/18/18 and valid for 14 days. Third installment of points credited to account on 12/2/18 and valid for 14 days. Offer valid 10/21-11/3/18. WAHOO!!! I could not find the exclusions so I checked out Tide. Its included! So are other P&G products such as Bounty and Charmin although I only found Extra Strong Charmin online. Pampers are included. Coffee/k-cups including SB 16 ct boxes too. Pet products. Food. All the usually excluded grocery items.
Now I just need to decide what to get…
-
@my4mainecoons Just got mines (RetailMeNot $2 reward for blowing $50 at Kmart)
-
There is also a strorewide in store Kmart offer: buy $35, get $15 back in SYW points., I believe this offer runs through 11/3/18. Points awarded next day. Points earned will be valid for 14 days. You can do this offer two times. Not nearly as good as the online offer, but just sharing.
Kmart sure has a steep markup. I bought a big box of Huggies diapers (size 6, 112 ct) today at Kmart to take advantage of this deal. It cost 35.99. I just looked on Amazon. The same thing sells there for about 26.50. So the $15 reward from this offer effectively got chopped down to more like a 5.50 reward when you take the price I could have got the same thing at Amazon into account.
I know the buy $75, get $75 ONLINE offer includes diapers, but online it is not giving me true stock information. It says my local and only store in my area dorsn’t Have the size I need in stock, but when I shop in store it is there.
I figure the soonest Sears would go belly up would be in January, so as long as these offers pay completely by the end of the year, I probably would not lose any money in points. I couldn’t help but noticing the Kmart $75 offer pays every 2-3 weeks for their installments, with the last installment paying 12/2/18, and not monthly like they used to. Maybe Sears realized that shoppers would be very hesitant to take the bait if they still insisted on monthly installments, especially past the end of the year. They must assume their shoppers read the news.

I just did the $50/$50 Sears B&M (thanks @Lo )
My favorite socket set, $99.99 RR, $24.99 SP
Paid full price w/my Sears gc: $99.99 + $6 tax.
Received back $82.50 on gc and $50 in 2 installments.
Not sure but I think it was a $30MM.

Thanks, Maine. I would recommend doing this in store only as when you do it online you have to wait a month for processing and with Sears being on shaky ground, a month is a very long time to wait:
How it works: Select this option & place your order. After your order is placed, email your salescheck #, first & last name, & telephone number to: saveonall@customerservice.sears.com Please allow up to 30 days for processing.

Transaction #2:
Socket set scans for $29.99. Add in a bottle of hand soap for $1.
I have a $15/$100 coupon.
Tell cashier I want to pay full price. New total $100.99
Apply coupon. New total $85.99.
Pay with points. Receive additional $77 on gift card.I paid $132 w/ gc and I’m putting $154 back on to the gc.
They can add funds to gc’s so I keep using the same gc until the stripe wears out.Hi, I was wondering if you could elaborate on how to apply the coupon in this situation. I had a $20 off $100 coupon loaded on my account, but it didn’t come off for me on a regular-priced $99.99 socket set and $0.99 keychain filler. If I ask the cashier to go back and scan the physical coupon, the socket set reverts in price to $29.99 so I’m nowhere near the required threshold of $100. This scenario works fine for me if I have freecash, but I can’t figure out how to do it when I have a coupon off of $100. Thank you!
Hi, @my4mainecoons, I asked this a couple months ago but not sure if you noticed my post as I don’t believe I saw a reply. I have a $20 off $100 coupon again loaded on my account, but I still don’t know how to apply it to the regular price of a socket set. It sounds like you had previously done it with a $15 off $100 coupon, so just wondering what steps you took. Thanks!
-
@lo Hi. Sorry I missed this earlier. You’ve found one of the fine points in SYWR…
I must have had Free Cash for $15 wyb $100. You can apply that when you are doing the “pay full price” deal.
$ off coupons are different. The coupon has to be applied before the option to pay full price so to use it your item’s sale price has to be less than the purchase requirement of the coupon. For example: the socket set RR $99.99, sale price $24.99 you can use $4/$20 Tools coupon but you could not use $20/$50 because sale price is only $24.99. Can’t take $20 off of $24.99, have to have $50 minimum.
example 2: my favorite ratchet RR $29.99, sale price $19.99. Could not use $4/$20 coupon because sale price $19.99 and coupon requires spending $20 so toss in a micro clamp or carpenter pencil to get total to $20.
-
@my4mainecoons Thanks, you had mentioned the word “coupon” when speaking of your $15/$100 several months ago, so I thought I was just missing something. Yes, what you just outlined has been my experience as well. Freecash works fine off of RR of course, but the coupons only work off the sale price. I thought perhaps it’d be different if the coupon was already loaded/clipped to come off automatically, but I guess I can only confirm that that did not work either. Thanks for the reply!

Well I went back to my store today and they’d taken down all the $50/$50 back signs and replaced them with 10-30% off liquidation signs. I guess they’re closing sooner than I thought. I was able to use surprise points/freecash on my clothing purchase. The rep did not know when the store would be closing.

Same here, so sad. Looks like Friday was the day. I had just been there Thursday night too and spoke at length with one of the long-time associates, and at that point he still didn’t know when the liquidators would be arriving. They really don’t tell them anything.
Just for fun, I scanned a socket set to see what it came up as now. $74.99 sale price, lol. It had been $24.99 the day prior.
I would be curious if anyone knows whether the RR tool deal still works at a store in liquidation. I know from past Kmart liquidations that coupons may still work if the cashier wasn’t instructed to not take them. The socket set would be a dud now of course, but I wonder if there are other items that’ll end up being a good deal if the register still prompts for the RR promo. Perhaps I am being too optimistic. I am probably just going to have to lug myself to my next closest store, which is much farther and in a high-crime area…
-
@lo A friend bought a tool at liquidation price and received the gc when she opted to pay full price. 10% off was a “sale price” .
In Weekly Sweeps email I received $10/$10 valid B&M or online.
-
@my4mainecoons What is, or was, the offer that gave you the $82.50 back?
-
@fulltimedad Its the option to pay full price instead of sale price. You’ll see it on the store signs in Tool Dept. Only available in Tool Dept in store. Tools sales associates should know about it. Advertised for other departments if you buy at sears.com but I strongly discourage doing it online.
eg Item is reg price $19.99, sale price $9.99. You can pay $9.99 -or- you can opt to pay full price and receive a gift card + 10% for the difference. In the case of the $19.99 item you’d receive a gift card for $11 ($10 difference + 10%). The “best” tool for that deal is the 42 pc socket set. Reg price $99.99 and was on sale last week for $24.99. I chose to pay full price. Paid $99 + tax and received back gift card for $82.50 ($75 + $7.50).
That particular socket set is usually “on sale” for $29.99 so $24.99 was really a sale price but as @Lo pointed out, if your store is closing its now on sale for $74.99.
-

For the Kmart buy $75, get $75 in points deal I was able to double dip by buying $75 of Smart Sense items (kitchen trash bags in my case).
